Baseless Theory: Arrow’s End
I know, it’s crazy - serving up a Baseless Theory for a show I haven’t even watched in over a year. But with all the talk of Arrow ending, and from what I know of the cross-overs, and all that jazz - Well, I couldn’t resist. So here we go.
Oliver dies at the end of Arrow.
Yup, they really do it. They kill him. Whatever deal he makes with the Guy to do the Thing (again, haven’t watched) - Yup, he dies. It’s very Buffy in The Gift - Big Hero Moment, sad goodbyes to Felicity and Digg and Baby Mia if she’s born yet? But yeah, he dies.
BUT THEN -
The rest of both The Flash and Supergirl’s seasons deal with this. Not all the time, but like every third episode there’s a bit more of Why Oliver Died and Can We Bring Him Back. This sets us up for an epic surprise crossover in May between The Flash and Supergirl (and maaaaybe Legends? I heard they might also be ending with the crossover next year) that also brings back Felicity and DIggle (but not the Newbies. God, not the motherfrakkin’ Newbies) to BRING OLIVER BACK. And there’s a reunion and tears and everyone is happy and THAT’S when Oliver Queen finally gets his happy ending and rides off into the sunset with Felicity and Mia and maybe they pick up Will (I’m still ambivalent on him) and retires to Bali.
Which is fitting, because it means Oliver gets his happy ending, but not on his own show, the Arrow writers get to kill him, and the Flash writers get to make Barry the Big Damn Hero who saves Oliver Queen. It all makes sense!
Arrow Baseless Theory: Not Team Arrow are the Real Big Bads
Fair warning: I have not been super engaged with the season, and have not watched the last five episodes, which, based on what I’ve seen around here, are infuriating, pointless, and basically revolve around a “civil war.” Oh, and Rene, Curtis and Dinah all suck.
Please correct me if I’m misreading things.
Anyways, reading all this chatter, especially after the ending of 6x14, made me think. What if this spat isn’t easily resolved? What if the Big Bads the season are, literally, of OTA’s own making - Not Team Arrow?
Baseless Theory: The Crown
The whole series is an elaborate, multi-year, multi-million dollar ploy to get Helen Mirren to reprise her role as Queen Elizabeth II in Seasons 5-6.
Baseless Theory: Adrian Chase has a secret twin brother, and that’s the Vigilante.
Random Thought
A possible ending for Deltarune:
After dealing with all other obstacles in the story there will be one final fountain to close. The one that gives form to Ralsei’s Empty Town. It will be a poignant and difficult decision given that it feels like the story is headed towards building this town up. More and more Darkners taking refuge in this expanding town. More friends, enemies, eccentric characters. All vanishing from the world like dust on the wind.
Baseless Theory: The 100 and the Dark Year
I’m likely waaaay off base but figured what the hell.
What happened during The Dark Year? I’m going to say some cannibalism, but that that’s NOT the big thing that traumatized everyone.
The promo shows Octavia twice holding a gun while in tears. Indra says she shouldn’t have let Octavia carry the burden of the Dark Year herself. We know they lost about 400 people in the six years they were down in the bunker, and I just don’t see that many dying in the fighting pit.
I think during the Dark Year, there was a forced culling. Maybe the people were forced to vote who was killed. Maybe it was a lottery. Maybe - in a dark reversal of Clarke’s list of Who Will Live - Octavia had to come up with a list of Who Will Die. These executions were carried out by Octavia herself - as Ned Stark taught us, she who passes the sentence must swing the sword/fire the gun.
And as I type that, I’m suddenly reminded that we so rarely see Octavia with a gun. Guns weren’t allowed in the Arena last season. I did a google search and the last time I remember/only image I could find of Octavia handling a gun was in 4x06, when she was going to execute Ilian. By far, she prefers to use a sword. Even earlier this season, she was going to use a sword to execute Kane. She established herself as Blodreina by using swords to kill those Grounders who wouldn’t bow to Wonkru.
Why, then, is she seen using a gun in not one, but TWO separate scenes in the preview?
I think Wonkru had to decide who to sacrifice, and Octavia was the one who single-handedly carried out those executions.
Arrow Baseless Theory - Who is the Copy-Cat Black Canary?
From what I can tell from episode descriptions and BTS pictures/gossip, sightings of the Black Canary will make Lance question whether or not Laurel is really dead (and who can blame him, when one daughter has come back from the dead at least twice), and there’s a young blonde girl who is being listed only as ‘daughter.’ There are some who think she’s the Faux Canary. I agree, but with a twist.
My Baseless Theory: Only Lance ever sees the Copy Canary. He spends part of the episode trying to track her down. When he finally does, he unmasks a young Laurel (hence the ‘Daughter’ listing). He unmasks his little girl. There never was a Copy Cat Black Canary; it was all in his head, a way of coping with his grief.
