Hullo Pit, I just had a thought about YUTS: considering the fact that cats can canonically see ghosts, it's entirely possible that one of Izuku's ancestors had a cat quirk that had the side effect of letting them see ghosts, and as generations passed that quirk eventually morphed itself to just being a ghost sense (which might explain his eyes as well)
