Claudia y Orlinda
Hola muchachos!
The first day passed and it was quite something, so don't go anywhere! :P Aaaannnd, I got some pictures to show as well ;D
So, my dear loyal readers - well, that's what I like to make myself believe :P -, I have arrived in Colombia already. Indeed, I arrived, my luggage had an another interpretation of "arrival". Nonetheless, I have all what a person needs to make a fresh impression in my handluggage...a comb, a toothbrush without toothpaste and tic-tac's. But it seems that my luggage will arrive later, entonces, no pasa nada. I even got an immediate reimbursement for it! :P
The money I received from the reimbursement sure came in handy once we arrived in Medellín. We? Yes, we. Today was also the first day I met with Claudia in person, a very sympathetic girl, with an elaborate knowledge of the trees here in Colombia - God I felt so stupid that I barely knew any of them :P, but it seems that there are thousands of tree species in Colombia -, who's also involved in the project I am enrolled in.
Once in Medellín, I felt a bit hungry and still had some extra food after the food on the plane. The first Colombian dish I ever tried was an arepa, made in Belgium especially for me by la chica que me robó el corazón - @mafandravv yup Ale, tag #2 :P. So it just felt completely right to start my trip here with an arepa.
But not only that, when I was starting to get in my foreign-food-frenzy mood, we were also about to meet up with another person. Una mujer linda que se llama Orlinda - the name was asking for it :) She´s an aunt of my girlfriend (@mafandravv <3) and a very sweet person who offered me a place to spend the first nights, a gesture I will never forget. It´s only been 1 day, but she has already shown an incredible amount of hospitality. Definitely one of the traits that are very typical for Latino-Americans, I believe. They would share even the little they have left for themselves.
With the two I already had an amazing tour in Medellín: walked a bit downtown, visited plazo mayor...
went to a circus...
...and also went all the way up to a viewing point of Medellín.
Despite the false start, it´s been an amazing day! I´m tired now, but in a satisfied way :) Think I´ll be writing a bit about differences I already noticed during my stay in my next post, but today I felt more like writing in a diary-style :)
Entonces, hasta la próxima vez muchachos! ;)
