I thinking about time Dororo basically encouraged bee assassin kid continue try be assassin. Let s thinking about this. Why did he act like any of that. What was that. God why. You have learned nothing. Youre hopeless
I ALMOST FORGOT WHAT THE ORIGINAL ASK ACTUALLY SAID THIS IS SO FUNNYYYYYYYYYYY. GOD WHY YOU HAVE LEARNED NOTHING YOURE HOPELESS
okay Okay okay Okay okay. So kind of a tangent off the original point but i was thinking just recently about (ok as of posting this “recently” is now like 2 months ago) like… i dont think the series as a whole can make up its mind about what dororo’s time as an assassin was like and how he feels about it and stuff along those lines. hes established from his introduction, especially in the manga, as a specific kinda cheesy (i say this lovingly. he plays into it he’s kinda dramatic) Reformed Killer archetype. and some parts of the anime - specifically episode 312a and especially episode 189 - really emphasize the concept of him Regretting It. plus episode 189 is essentially like. “heres a 22 minute argument for the idea of dororo’s training/time as an assassin being itself traumatic. we’re never really going to use this concept again but we are going to make it incredibly fucking compelling”. The rest of the time though it’s just like. it’s just intended to be a Fun Little Detail That Makes Him Cooler and the writing doesnt think about it very hard and then you get instances that make it sound like he’s proud of it. like this was a good thing that happened in his life that he doesn’t have any major problems with. idk i don’t have a conclusion to this but looking into the details of the writing of a very long multimedia series worked on by a lot of people is interesting
Anyway ummm yeah so true about how hes just. fine with child soldier ninja village. I MEAN THIS IS KINDA WHAT IM SAYING ABOUT DORORO AND KOYUKI HAVING SIMILAR BACKSTORIES (i wanna make a post about that eventually ive meant to for ages but i dont have the energyyyy) in my fantasy slightly alternate canon from my head this is the first domino where dororo compares koyukis old life to the lives of normal middle school girls around her and can go hmmm maybe she should not have grown up like that actually and then by virtue of that he can go hey wait a second maybe i should not have grown up like that and it’s actually bad to teach children how to fight and kill people. Uhhhh anyway thats besides the point. canonically he dgaf. because in the context of the series it’s just woah cool ninjas! but likeeeee. I think there is a fun potential character interpretation to be had in. stuff like that and in how like, particularly in the anime as opposed to the manga where in my experience he’s more properly disassociated from the platoon, dororo gives the impression of like. He hasn’t unpacked keron bullshit. like the problem he takes with invasion is the violence involved and not the ……. entire premise and concept of invading a place.
i dunno. it’s crazy out here. interesting stuff to think about and look at from different angles. thanks for the ask im gonna lay down now
