Dipsy is always trying to keep up his appearance but his head fur sticks up when he doesn't want it to.

12 hours after my shift!

In my au the tainted custard gives the teletubbies just pure violent rage. They dont immediately become angry or monsters, but start off visibly irritated. Tinky winky becomes overly defensive for no reason during conversations and turns uncooperative with the others. The next stage of this is profound frustration; having violent reactions to small things and being physical with others, such as pushing or or trying to fight.

Dipsy is victim to the stage after. Tinky winky and dipsy get into an argument after dipsy confronts tinky winky for his upsetting behavior; it's been affecting the teletubbies past week. Tinky winky, of course, sees this show of concern as an attack and freaks out. They get into an argument and tinky winky is overcome with pure unfiltered rage and tackles dipsy, wrapping his paws around his neck and strangling him. After dipsy goes unconscious, tinky winky rips his head off.

Afterwards, he feels remorse for what hes done. The rage has subsided, and now he's freaking out, dipsys severed head in his paws.

Po returns from her night walk (I headcanon that she struggles to sleep and to remedy it goes on walks) and freezes when she witnesses tinky winky sat on top of dipsy. She runs away, and tinky winky runs after her, yelling out threats, attempted bribes and begging, switching between them all like he can't decide what to do with her when he catches up.

He finally corners her, and tries to tell her it wasn't what she thought it was (it definitely was). She doesn't calm down, so tinky winky pins her to the tree and starts strangling her too. She doesnt have much neck so his paws don't fit, so instead he reaches for the broken tree swing nearby and wraps the rope around her neck, tying it as tightly as possible. He then hangs her. He's half aware of what hes doing at this point, but dissociating as he hangs her.

During this, laa laa wakes from her sleep and the first thing she sees is dipsys body, and the head laying not too far away. She freaks out and runs away.
