~ stop looking up for heaven ~
I made a thing. 😊
And all their words for,, glory
Well, they always sounded empty........
When we’re looking up for...Heaven..,,,,,,.
Looking up for Heaven.....
here's another wallpaper that i made a while ago🌸
Listening to Glory will always makes me feel all kinds of emotion; sad, happy, nostalgic, in love, wanderlust, and longing for something that I can’t explain. The song is that powerful. I don’t understand how it didn’t win anything.
And all their words for glory Well they always sounded empty When we're looking up for heaven
"You make me laugh until I die; can you think of any better way to choke?" From glory by Bastille :-)
Glory
So as “Glory” By Bastille is my favorite song, like all time favorite, i thought why not write a piece based on both the song and music video?
Glory
A walk down memory lane as they put it.
Each side of the road dividing itself into a labyrinth.
A dangerous yet mysterious labyrinth.
Holding inside the dwindling twisting pathways, remembrances of the past.
Intertwined at a point; connecting one’s story of life together.
Filled with all sorts of feelings, all sorts of events.
Heartwarming and heart wrenching.
A contrast in the two concepts itself.
Yet they go hand in hand in a dark, depressing beauty.
And it captivated me. As if I were a moth attracted to a single, bright source of light.
The danger put aside in temporary pursuit of happiness.
Oh, how much had I promised myself to not get lost in this labyrinth. How much!
But, in the end, I am human.
Broken. Desperate. Alone.
Maybe the anguish led me inside the labyrinth.
Ever since I became alone.
………………………………………………………………..
Our last day together was crystal clear in my mind. A vivid picture that haunts me constantly. Without sympathy, it claws me down.
It had been a starry night. We were together, lying on my (borrowed) car’s bonnet, just talking. Every once in a while, an aero plane flying overhead would disturb the pointless yet entertaining conversation going on between us. We talked about random subjects, discussions ranging from emotional movies to the best candy ever to exist. Yet somehow, the pointlessness molded into a peek into the past. The stories which never failed to bring a smile to your faces.
So under the star filled night, which seemed like the audience, waiting to hear reminiscences of the days named mockingly as our “glory days”. Passing a drink cladded in a paper bag, we remembered the first chapter of your journey away from home.
It was a night in a dive bar. You wore a blonde wig, though you disagreed with me, claiming it to be electric pink in color. I remember the joy on your face that night, as drinking you let yourself get lose. Dancing without worries on the bar table, whilst I stood on the sidelines, playing a game of snooker.
You then laughed, remembering the moment I had stolen a car, or as I interjected, ‘borrowed it’. The memory caught up to another. The time we had decided to jump into a lake, or pool, as I called it. I was soaked through and through in my clothes while you stood on the top landing; laughing, your beautiful, hearty laugh. The one which warmed my heart. And yet, now, it hurts to think of it. To think I won’t hear it again.
A chuckle had escaped your mouth that moment, causing me to look at you, an eyebrow raised. With an amused look on your face, you chirped,” Remember Dexter, Violet and Jeremy?” “Obviously.” I retorted. How could I have forgotten the couple, who refused to even crack the littlest smile, and their humble companion, a dog, which we conjointly named as ‘Jeremy’. “Wonder where they are right now?” you whispered and I nodded. We didn’t ask any means to communicate with them when we dropped them off on our way to a little town. “I guess it was fate for them to become those people who are solely meant to become a part of our memory.” You agreed, solemnly.
“Ok. Leave this sad talk.” You turned to look at me. “Remember when I dared you to-” “Dared me to run through the old couple’s house?” You blurted, the shine returning back into your eyes. “And the old man had a gun.” I added. You gave me a look and burst out laughing. Surprise laced the happiness in your voice.
And so the night went on. We visited memory by memory. Attending random dance classes, the numerous trips we made, discussing all kinds of people we had bumped into on our journey.
A journey we had decided to risk. The risk that had proved to the best decision of our lives, simultaneously being the worst. A paradox left behind, a demon in my mind. We were called naïve, stupid, ignorant to leave behind a life of luxury. But our friends and family didn’t understand. All were too caught up in the pursuit of glory. Pursuit of success. But where was the peace and contentment in the same average human life. Where days are in borders of time. Schedules organized. Jobs to be done. But no room for self discovery. No room to experience the wonders of life around.
And so we had sought out together. To chase the stories which had captivated us as we grew older. Stories of exploration. We weren’t always following the plans we made. But wasn’t that part of human fate? We learned and we grew. We found joy in what we had.
We first sought for our initial aim. To look up for heaven. To find heaven.
Were we too late to understand that it just wasn’t possible?
That here on the ground, how could have we found heaven?
A rookie mistake, you would have put it, if you were beside me.
If you were beside me.
But you’re not.
And wouldn’t be anymore.
You had to go – NO! LIFE TOOK YOU AWAY.
And I was left alone.
I had been spending my time being Broken, Desperate and Alone.
One day, I had sat alone watching the sunrise. How shades of yellow filled the sky. And at that moment, it was as if another pathway had opened in my labyrinth of memories. It dragged me to the day we watched a sunrise together. I remembered the sky being filled with yellows. You described it as being filled with pinks. I said that I liked my point of view better, but that had being a lie. It had always been you who saw true beauty in life, not me.
That day, tears refused to come to my eyes. It seemed as they too had left me. Alone. Or maybe they were all just used up.
It seemed hard to move on.
But it was as if you reached down from heaven. As if you pulled me out of the pursuit for heaven. As if you corrected the mistake you made, the rookie mistake, by saving me. It was the fact that you wouldn’t let me give up, that I was still on ground.
At least you were in my memories.
Heartwarming and heart wrenching.
The dark depressing yet equally beautiful contrast that trapped me in my labyrinth for time to come.
But yet I stumbled ahead in life.
Even daring to join the pursuit for glory.
For you.
Just for you.
