this world was very strange but she didn’t say anything. after all, she had to maintain the world order or face the consequences. it sure wasn’t going to be her fault if it even happened.

Rapier sat bolt upright in the bed, waking with a start. She had been back on the battlefields. Distant gun fire had made her toss and turn, but it was the final deafening blast of a bomb explosion that had her flying into action. Gasping, the redhead cupped a hand around her mouth, trembling all over as she blinked her tears away. She was now coming to, not caught in that confusing place between dreams and reality, and she was helpless but to crumple onto her side in a fetal position and sob. It had been too much, too real. She swore she had been back in Wutai again, always on edge for a coming fight. She sobbed another ugly cry, curling in on herself. Rapier had been too young for the horrors of war.
