“you aren’t the only one who has somewhere to be.” there was a huff as vera sat in a chair, waiting with this woman and a handful of others.

the sooner she was cleared, the better. having been sitting in this room, watching one person leave at a time to be questioned and then released, made her antsy.

she has been here too long for her liking. leon was waiting for her and here she was,delayed with this.

“at this rate, you won’t get out of here for another hour to two.”

well, this assignment might end much quicker than she expected; it looked like she found the source of disruption that the inhabitants had been talking about.

vera looked up to the figure, bringing a hand to shield her eyes from the light. while it was probably a good idea to go find leon and handle this as a pair, she didn’t have time to waste looking for him.

she could handle this; this is what she was meant fo.

“--and just what do you think you’re doing?”

“...” she was staring at the other woman, wondering if she’d seen them before. they seemed familiar but why? if there was an answer, it was out of her reach and vera realized how rude she was being.

“i don’t suppose you could help a lady out and tell me where the nearest shop is? i’m looking for something...” she made a vague gesture, not finding the word she wanted. “materia.”

this world was very strange but she didn’t say anything. after all, she had to maintain the world order or face the consequences. it sure wasn’t going to be her fault if it even happened.

she woke up in pain.

vera rolled onto her side, mind in a haze after she and squall leon had landed onto...where? she didn’t remember their destination.

just that something had gone wrong, him shielding her from the glass and everything going black.

doing a quick once over, she saw that she had a rather long gash on her shoulder but that seemed to be it... the brunette looked around, but where was leon?

it took half an hour to find some sign of him -- his jacket had been outside of the ship, the fur tattered and torn on the left sleeve -- and she didn’t know what to think but to assume the worst.

tears welled up in her eyes as she brought the leather up to her face, murmured, “please tell me that you didn’t die, squall. please.” while wrapped up in emotions and dizziness, she didn’t hear the footsteps before her until they were much closer.

vera looked up, her grip on the jacket tight as if it were her lifeline. it basically was at this point if she were honest. her pose went rigid, defensive, as she said, “what do you want?”

she and squall leon had parted ways after the restoration efforts had ended; it was for the best since she no longer had a role with him for now.

this was temporary.

vera would return in due time but, this was her chance to explore and visit worlds that had yet to be seen and according to the gummi ship’s map, there was one by the name of spira nearby.

seemed like a good place to start.

once she landed the ship down and set it on stealth mode, she locked everything up to ensure that no one could get in; the woman took a moment to take in the sights before her.

“...this certainly isn’t radiant garden, that’s for sure.” now, what to do, what to do... she had no idea where to begin but her best shot was to find the closest point of interest and move on from there.

so that’s what she did with nothing but a small satchel at her side with a few potions and ethers for the trip.
