I find it funny how yesterday I saw so much love and everything for Watcher and everyone involved and then the moment the news about the paywall came out, everyone started shitting on them.

Yes, it sucks that this is happening after everything, and yea it doesn’t make sense to us as the audience, because we do not know what’s happening behind closed doors.

I’m not saying that this is a 100% good move for watcher, but it may be a necessary move.

Like, they are a normal company, they need to be able to keep people on the team, meaning they need more money, and YouTube maybe isn’t giving them the sustainability they need.

Like, guys, they didn’t just wake up one day and go: “Hey, let’s just leap over to a paywall based thing today” this is something that takes time. This is something they would have thought about doing for at least a few months.

This isn’t a case of “give me money” it’s a case of keeping the company going, because it takes a shitload of cash to run a fucking company.

Am I saying that I think it’s a great idea? No. Because honestly, I’m upset to. But do I think that this was an unrecoverable move? No. Because let’s face it guys, YouTube isn’t always great for running a company of 27 people and the shitload of money that your multiple shows cost to make. (Equipment, travel, hotels, food, etc.)

So how about we all calm the actual fuck down, and just make peace with it. Like, I understand the anger, but come on guys.

listen, it’s understandable why Watcher is doing this, and yea it sucks but here’s the bottom line, in a more recent interview, Ryan said they’d keep their backlog on YouTube. So most of the older stuff will probably stay on there. First episodes of new seasons will also be posted.

I feel like a lot of people ignore this, as well as the fact that Watcher is a fucking company, and YouTube’s platform isn’t letting them get enough income to cover a lot of the costs of running the company.

Either way, they kind of encourage to password share, and people have most likely already started to archive shit.

Either way, stop acting like this is an absolute sin. This isn’t the type of thing people do over night, and there’s a chance, no matter how small, that Watcher could return to YouTube.

but ya for fucks sake stop acting like a nukes been dropped. It sucks ya, but that’s sort of just life.
