Albums I'm listening to on loop rn
I've been going through a lot recently, so I decided to share the albums I'm currently listening to on loop.
the first glass beach album
with songs about clinging to the people you love in the face hatred and hostility. and really fun glitchy crunchy arrangements that draw from a wide array of musical styles that itch the brain just right. this album has come to mean a lot to me, i discovered it while in covid lockdown, and I've come to associate a lot of the songs with many of my friends.
Ghost Quartet Live at the McKittrick
another album I discovered during covid, and one of my favorite musicals of all time. the spooky tone, the tactile instrumentation, the addictive Dave Malloy harmonies, the nonlinear plot, the reflections on belief, guilt, and forgiveness. I've noticed myself listening to Hero a lot recently, a song I never quite latched onto before.
How to Friend, Love, Freefall
this is hands-down my favorite RKS album. I'm obsessed with the harmonies and the bass, and I'm OBSESSED with those drums. i've found comfort in reflections on family and queerness and religion
Menomena Mines
I picked this one up at random during record store day, and I lowkey still don't know anything about it. It's been living in my CD player for a few days. I want to glean as much as possible from the CD and its case alone (which doesn't give you a lot) before I start googling. All i can say the almost-bluesy indie rock vibes are off the charts.
