Okay, favorite fic you’ve written……I’ve got to go with “Darling, So It Goes” as the overall #1. However, “Suddenly, Last Summer is for sure a favorite, as well as “That’s My Jam”.
But “Just One Look (And I Fell So Hard)” was a one shot that I could’ve read 10 more chapters from, it just stole my heart. Something about Harry’s adorable inner monologue, the instant, undeniable attraction between him and Louis and the overall tenderness throughout made this one I’ll read over and over again!

Hell has lots of Hot Hot water which makes for very good bathhouses and saunas
Sebastian's family has a bathhouse that he helps out around
Ciel is turned into a demon so naturally he gets to go down to hell and see this bathhouse for himself
They end up running it together with Sebastian's two siblings
Sebastian grows and serves tea, maintains the grounds, makes sure the water is okay
Ciel doesn't really enjoy working but he makes good soup which does not feel like work because it is soup
They take full advantage of having infinite Baths and Soup at their disposal
They especially like to use the bathhouse if it is cold (given they are closed)
They own a house in the human world that they can stay in if they feel like humaning
Sebastian has an apothecary room in their human house
The reapers will come and visit them
They have a Big Nest they will cuddle together in, in both places
Sebastian's younger sister was jealous of Ciel at first because she isn't used to having her brother away so long (she reminds me a lot of lilo from lilo and stitch)
Eventually Ciel manages to form a friendship

Louis is different from anyone Harry has dated before and their relationship moves fast as Harry realizes he’s ready for a change. Soon Harry finds himself adapting to an entirely new life, in a country where he doesn’t know the rules, the customs, even the language. Harry is used to people underestimating him, and he’s more determined than ever to prove them wrong.

Grace Kelly AU.
Okay, so usually the last thing I wrote is the one I like the most, but this is probably going to be my all-time favorite. This is the fic I have always wanted to write, and I finally got to post after it lived in my mind and my heart for three years. It’s my epic, and I love it. I loved researching it and including all of the details that fascinate me (looking at you, chapter 8). I love the characters (especially Harry’s family), the relationships, the settings, the smut, the fashion. Everything, I just love it. This fic is me.

If you’ve read the author’s note, you know this is based on a story that my friend told me. I wish that I had written it before he passed away, and I just hope wherever he is, he knows how much I love him and how much I miss him everyday. I really like the way I interpreted his experience in the fic; I had to figure out how to capture a specific moment in time and I’m happy with how it turned out. As much as I hated using the AU Historical tag, I came of age in the 90s and I loved writing something set then.

“No, I know you,” the girl insists, her green eyes wide as she leans over the counter. “I have known you so many times, in so many different forms, in so many different lives.”
“Uh…” Nick blinks, speechless for maybe the first time in her life. The thing is, the girl looks totally sincere. Kind of awestruck really, her pretty pink lips parted slightly as she takes Nick in. Like she can’t believe her luck or something. It’s not Nick’s fault that she has no idea how to act; no one has ever looked at her like this before. “Okay?”
Harry isn’t like anyone Nick has ever met before. Maybe that’s why they work.
I LOVE THIS FIC. I think it’s a little niche (its stats are... not great), but I just really love it. I was inspired by a quote from Megan Fox about Machine Gun Kelly of all things, and I tried to do a vague five times structure with it. I talked about how I’ve tried to grow as a girl direction author on the @roseanddaggerpodcast, and I think this fic really exemplifies that; this is not a gryles fic with just the pronouns switched, it’s really about wlw characters and I’m proud of it.

Louis fell apart when her ex broke up with her and moved across the country. Just as she’s starting to move on, Zayn comes back to town for their mutual friends’ wedding – with a new girlfriend as her plus one.
Blindsided and scrambling to save face, Louis lets herself get talked into a fake relationship with her new friend Harry. Their arrangement makes Louis feel pathetic and embarrassed, but it’s only going to last a few weeks. She just has to get through the wedding – what could happen?
I got writer’s block the first time I tried to write the Grace Kelly AU, so I decided to try and do a long, trope-y girl direction fic for Big Bang that year instead. I did not realize that fake relationship AUs are really hard to write! I finally had to create a spreadsheet to track the character’s emotions and motivations in each scene. But I ended up with a story that I really love, and I like that I contributed a longer fic to the girl direction fandom.

This fic was inspired by a photo of Niall and the tags that @fallinglikethis included when she reblogged it. A Hallmark Christmas Movie esque story just sprang into my mind, almost fully formed. I remember getting stressed out while writing, and spending a lot of time figuring out what legal questions the small town residents could ask Niall, but I reread this one lately and it’s just warm and cozy and FUN. I really liked casting all of the characters, and I think they all really shine (including the cats).

Okay so Sebastian was still born a demon in a family of demons. In this AU Hell is very vast and has a lot of different sections, some sections being rather touristy or heavily enjoyed by locals. Sebastian's family has a bathhouse that's been passed down for generations that gets a variety of guests from Hell and beyond. They also serve homegrown tea and food.
Sebastian has two sisters in this au one older and one younger. The younger one is named Sakura because she liked the flower and wanted an S name for her human name just like Sebastian. She really looks up to Sebastian as her cool big brother and wants to be just like him. Sebastian's older sister is named Misa I might change this I just named her after misa from deathnote but ermmmm.
Misa is the one thats set to inherit the bathouse next so from the get go she's had a lot of weight placed on her shoulders. She's always been pressured throughout her life to live up to the standards cultivated over thousands of years from both her family and the pressure to carry on traditions. In her earlier years this caused her to rebel and start getting up to normal petty crime type teenage shit you would expect. She got involved with a lot of the wrong crowds to cope and got even more weight pushed on her from her family because of it. Eventually she just learned to suck it up to carry on the family traditions because they're very important to her but she can't help but resent Sebastian for being able to be as free as he is. Sebastian acts like a bit of a dumbass in this au so she's naturally like what the fuck why wasn't I ever tossed a bone nobody ever cut me any slack yet my younger brother can run amock around humans without so much as a slap on the wrist. She tries her best to be a good sister to Sakura and despite her resentment of Sebastian she does love him even if they fight.
Their father really isn't in the picture in this Au. He died a while ago and nobody really discusses it unless its those 2am sorts of conversations where you're looking at the stars. They do have a mother though.
Their mother has always been the harsh type because she wants them to live up to a certain standard. She does love them and has always done her best to try and build them up to be strong but at the same time the pressure she puts on her children especially after the death of their father causes a lot of tension in the household. Misa has all of the pressure of being the older sibling, Sebastian needs to learn how to mature and stop being a fucking idiot around humans for once and step up to join the "real world" to try and fill the hole his father left, Sakura has to deal with her siblings fighting constantly and never reslly gets paid attention to with all the drama that goes on.
In retaliation Sakura will pull a bunch of pranks and in general be loud and reckless in hopes of getting attention but also partially to mimic Sebastian. Like Sebastian is not a total himbo dumbass in this au he moreso thinks with his heart instead of his brain which is especially weird in their culture but that combined with the slight isolation causes Sakura to be a lot more sensitive than most demons which in turn makes it hard to make friends.
Sakuras favorite job is running the baths beforehand because she likes the way it smells and how warm it gets. Misa likes to cook if her mother isn't already and Sebastian likes to cultivate and prepare the tea. Sebastian gets like real big into it too and starts cross breeding strains of tea and throwing different things into the soil to get the chemistry just right. The effort pays off too. I think as Sebastian "matures" kind of and starts controlling himself a bit more he actually starts to act a bit like Tanaka.
Speaking of Tanaka in this Au all of the servants are dead. It's the modern era. The servants reside in the afterlife but neither Ciel nor Sebastian are able to track them down. Sebastian nearly died performing a ritual that was way above his skill level transforming Ciel into a partial demon. Ciel's lifespan will be lengthened significantly but Ciel cannot shift and morph his form like a full demon could which leads to him being a bit ostracized.
When Sebastian's mother found out he did this she was pissed. Her son literally almost died because he fell in love with his food. They had a big fight but it eventually settled down to where Sebastian could introduce Ciel to his family.
Sakura LOVES Ciel. She's so curious about the human world, she heard all the stories from her family's travels and wants to go up there so bad it's like the forbidden fruit. Misa is initially angry at Ciel because she's angry at Sebastian but her and Ciel are actually so similar personality wise and relate to each other's childhood pressure they become homies.
Sebastian's mother is WEARY of Ciel. To her Ciel is a human gone wrong that will just ruin things for everyone. She does not like Ciel. Ciel has to WORK for her trust. He starts learning their language, helps out around the house, spends more time with the family, ect. and with time she actually comes to like Ciel. She likes his maturity, his drive, the way he can buckle down even when he doesn't like to do so, how cool he can stay even when emotions are tugging at him. She sees him as a wonderful friend and influence for Sebastian. Once she sees how Ciel gets along with Sakura and Misa she starts to see him as a good friend for the family in general and eventually one of them.

6. Work I’m most proud of (and why): this is my jam. If you read my author’s note, you know this was based on a story my friend told me and I wrote it after he passed away suddenly in July. When I was brainstorming the best way to adapt it, I found that I was kind of tempted to sanitize it in a way and I caught myself to interrogate that a bit. There’s nothing wrong with the open/ambiguous ending after what basically amounts to a one-night stand, and it served the story better than any of the fluffier ideas that came to me. It was also really important to capture a sense of the times, the early 90s, and the implications of that, and people in the comments complimented me on how I handled it, which really meant a lot, especially since my friend wasn’t here to read it over and be my sounding board. I just hope that he would have been proud, too.
7. Work I’m least proud of (and why): I hate this question! I usually don’t bother answering it, but I guess it would be obsessed, the gryles drabble, just because I really wanted to take that idea and make it a longer fic for @lululawrence for her birthday and because of everything going on at the time, I just couldn’t. But I am proud of it because it captures a moment and the essence of what I wanted to do, so maybe this is job interview type spin, but whatever.
8. Share or describe a favorite review you received: I’m really lucky to have a lot to choose from, and it pains me to only share one but I’m going to go with this comment on comfort from @louandhazaf:
Beautiful! I love their relationship and H’s supportiveness and how they’ve clearly got the communication thing down… that shoulder touch and the spaghetti and the ear murmur on the neighbor’s porch. This is just….. sad, yes, but also warm and comforting, and such a dive into humanness in a mere 666 words. I love you and I love this and I’m so glad this fic has a home!
I was nervous to post that fic because I knew it would be kind of an outlier in that fest because it’s sad and I kind of feel like I’m the only one sad that time of year, and it meant a lot to me to be received with such compassion.
9. A time when writing was really, really hard: I had a couple of bouts of writer’s block this year, and the second one was really hard because I was depressed and grieving. I tried to give myself kind goals, like “write 100 words today,” and eventually I just had to give up my expectations and wait for that time to pass.
10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: I was surprised by how a little tenderness unfolded. It was a really open prompt, something I could kind of do anything with, and I ran through several ideas before Harry helping Niall through touch deprivation came to me. When I started writing, Harry was already a little fully formed, I think he has a lot of me in him and I always knew he was asexual, but I was surprised by how well Niall complemented him, and how he turned out to be not a stereotypical omega.
11. A favorite excerpt of your writing: from i fell in, i’m falling, i’m for you:
And that’s when he sees him.
Illuminated by the bright morning light pouring through the windows, clad in ugly corduroy pants and an embroidered green jacket with what looks like a purse slung over his shoulder, and totally unaware of Zayn’s presence. His ex-boyfriend. Harry. Or H, as he used to call him back in the days when he thought they’d stay together forever. Maybe even get married. Have the houseful of kids that Harry had always wanted.
Fuck. Harry.
Their eyes meet as Harry looks up from the counter where he’d been stabbing the lid of an iced coffee with a straw, and they both freeze. Zayn doesn’t know what Harry is thinking, the face he used to be able to read so clearly back when things were good frustratingly blank as the sunlight creates a halo around him, highlighting his brown curls. God, he looks so different now. He looks good like this, with his hair cut shorter and in those clothes, the distinct stale thrift store vibe oddly suiting him. Even the purse looks right on him as he rests a hand on it. Now that he’s not bent over his cup, Zayn can see a string of pearls around his neck and his heart skips a beat.
The Harry he knew had always liked feeling pretty.
12. How did you grow as a writer this year: I know deadlines and goals work really well for a lot of people, but I find them kind of restrictive and I’ve really given myself permission to just not set them for myself and I think it helps me a lot.
13. How do you hope to grow next year: I want to keep trying new things and I’m hoping to work on an advent fic because I’ve always kind of wanted to post something as a WIP.
14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc): Again, I hate to choose just one! But @crinkle-eyed-boo is always unfailingly supportive of anything I do. Her face always lights up when I tell her about a new idea, she always asks about my progress, she follows me into pairings that I would never expect her to, and I think she’s chosen a lifelong role of being my own personal hype woman.
15. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year: comfort is basically about me and my husband.
16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers: I think it’s about figuring out what works for you and accepting that what works for one person might not for another. I don’t like setting goals but maybe goals really help you focus. I painstakingly edit as I write because I just can’t not, but maybe you need to go with the flow and just write until that first draft is done before you edit. I don’t know, just take advice with a grain of salt because maybe it’s for you but it’s okay if it’s not.
17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year: MY GRACE KELLY AU. I will finish and post as part of Big Bang this year! I have always wanted to write a longer fic, like 100k, and I’m so close to being done I can taste it.
