The guide to bathing your dog
Any dog owner knows that when it comes to bathing your dog, it is not as easy as the movies make it seem. It is natural for dogs to be dirty and stinky--it is us humans that have a problem with it. There are some things dogs owners can do to escape the water and soap fights they often encounter with their dogs.
Here are a few tips when it comes to bathing your dog.
1. Make the bath a positive experience. Allow the dogs to get acquainted with the tub a few times before adding water. Also give them toys and treats.
2. Start bathing them as puppies. The younger they are the easier it will be to teach them that it is okay.
3. Make sure to protect their ears. Dogs have very sensitive ears and when water gets in them, it can be uncomfortable and cause health problems.
4. It is important to use the right shampoo. Dogs can have sensitive skin and it is a good idea to talk to your vet about what kind would be best for your dog to avoid irritating the skin.
5. When it comes to washing their face, use a washcloth. Dogs have sensitive ears and eyes so to avoid any problems use a washcloth and be gentle with their face.
6. Find the right way to dry your dog. It is common for some owners to use hair dryer but the loudness and nets can irritate some dogs. Using a towel is the best options for most.
