I follow a maximalist decor page and this woman posted her new bath. It's so interesting, I thought you'd enjoy seeing it. She said that her father-in-law is a retiring contractor and when her mom passed away, they wanted to move into her bedroom, which is the primary suite.

But, it reminded her too much of her mom, so her FIL said that he would make it unrecognizable. Looks like he did.

She said that everyone LOVES it, but there was criticism from members of the group. (He is also remodeling their kitchen and her friend told her that she will have to die in this house, but she is not remodeling it for resale.)

They decided to try this livestock watering trough as a tub and even listed the ordering information. I like some aspects of the room, but not all. (I can't wait to see the kitchen.)

This bathroom's days are numbered. And that number is 16!

After much hemming and hawing and saving up of money, I found a contractor, got permission from the townhouse board, picked out all the new fixtures, and waited SEVEN WEEKS for beautiful seafoam green tile with black edge pieces to be made by hand and shipped halfway across the US. My inspiration is the 1930s like this photo:

It's a little sad that the original vanity and tub are going: they served well for sixty years. But the new vanity isn't beat to heck, and the new tub is made for soaking. The new toilet is the best basic toilet I could find. The faucets and other metal fixtures are all chrome-plated brass. My contractor says he can trim out the window in tile so it won't need a protective curtain. It's going to be bright and fresh and clean and beautiful.

And I will finally have an exhaust fan!

It's scary paying a bunch of guys to break up my bathroom and put in a new one. But I think it'll be worth it.
