Bath Time Records Albums Of 2020. Number One. My Album Of The Year. Paradise Lost — Obsidian // As a long time fan I've stopped expecting anything less than greatness from these Yorkshire legends. At this point in their 30 plus year career they could drop decent but average albums and everyone would be fine with that. Instead, the band drop possibly their best album. This is expansive Gothic Metal taking in every facet of their sound to date. Goth, Doom, Doom Death and even those so called "Depeche Mode" elements. Strings, acoustics and pianos accent the heavy as lead riffs and beautifully miserable dripping leads. The drums are expressive and the vocals range from the guttural to the sublime. 16 albums in Paradise Lost have no right to release an album this damn good. It's by far one of the bands best albums. And it's album of the year for me.
