The drama starts with missed calls and Robert being out sick for an entire week. It's unclear to the team if he's actually sick or just taking some vacation time. After all Robert is chronically sleep deprived so it is very possible he's just trying to catch up on his rest. Rumors swirl and tensions rise, the Z-Team bickering about what's wrong with Robert and why he's not answering any of their attempts to call or text him. Tensions only continue to rise as Blonde Blazer calls for an sudden meeting.

The meeting is brief. Blazer's explanation is criminally short and vague. "Robert Robertson doesn't work here anymore. I can't tell you anything more than that. Privacy laws and all that." Although a few months ago the team would've been cheering, now... Now they've all grown attached. There's yelling, crying and angry outbursts. The team is dismissed early. Chase is going to be their dispatcher until a proper replacement can be found for Robert.

The team is forced to move on although the energy between them isn't the same without Robert. Not to mention they've gotten a lot more violent and dangerous calls recently. It's like there's someone actively trying to kill them all. The danger seems coincidental and just a hazard of the job until sudden and unrequested back up flies in between Toxic and Sonar. "Unless you're secretly immune to having your flesh burned off you should leave," Mecha Man's metallic mic echoes as he uses his body to shield Sonar from the worst of Toxic's blasts.

"So when did the bat thing start? Like, has it always been the case? And what about the monster form?" Normally, Emma would expect to be shot down or told to pound sand for asking this sort of question, but this time, she had a secret weapon: beer.

Unceremoniously, she heated the cap just under the lip--causing it to pop right off then and there. Handing the beer to Sonar, Emma leaned back against the nearby wall and sipped her own beer. Beer always tasted like ass to her, but that was kind of the point (or so she was told). Truthfully, it was close to the end of shift and everyone was getting ready to go home, but she'd caught Sonar in the break room and figured it was a good time to chat.

Emerald eyes watched Sonar carefully; his reactions were harder to gauge than most, but that didn't make it impossible. She just had to watch for different signs...

" I FEEL AS THOUGH I AM TREATING YOU MORE OFTEN THAN THE OTHER MEMBERS OF YOUR TEAM . " came her tease as gentle fingers dabbed an alcohol-soaked cotton ball upon the gash along the man's thigh . he sat upon the medical bed , soft pink sheets covering the mattress as she sat upon her rolling stool before him .

once the wound was clean she pulled off the pink latex gloves and dropped them upon the metal tray on the table close by . now that the injury was clean she could mend the muscle and flesh . softly do her fingers press to his skin until palm lay flat over the gash . a light glowed from under her hand . it was warm and soon he would feel a sort of itch at the skin began to stitch itself back together .

" you did well though , " she said , green hues glancing up to meet his before falling back down to focus on her mending , " you saved so many people in that accident . "

Performance reviews were tedious, but it afforded Blazer the time to go over records, review feedback and complaints from those under SDN's security plans. The new head of HR was looking haggard as always and Blazer found herself having to glance at their name tag from time to time.

Another temp agency fill. Wondered how long this one was going to last. At least they were sticking around long enough to slough through this paperwork with her. They didn't have to go this far, so if they made it through the week or till the end of their temp contact, Blazer was considering hiring them.

Back to Sonar.

"He's made great strides. Easily one Z Team's most improved. There are...still some areas to be worked on"

This earned her a glare from the temp HR Head, a clearing of their throat and a stack of complaints.

"I know, I know. If we could look past that though, to the Leaderboard perhaps?" Yet another fluctuating metric, but Blazer will take what she can get.

Knows that the word around the office is that she's playing favorites, letting Z Team get away with everything short of murder, yet feels she has to say something in Sonar's defense.

"On paper, I know it looks like a nightmare. However, Sonar has proven himself when it comes to rescue missions that require flight and being able to get in and out of situation."

Also had reports of him being paired or sent out alone on PR side jobs.

" He's well-spoken and knowledgeable" almost too much, to the point some others did complain they felt Sonar viewed them as beneath his notice.

The temp turned a page, followed by a quick glance to Blazer, then to their notes that had been passed down from one HR Head to the next, probably several times over before reaching their desk.

Before they could address 'unconventional cuisine' he tended to feast on and nuke in the company microwave, Blazer was able to find some commendations within the file folder, sliding those over with the same smooth motion as one would handle a bribery.

"While in his...human form he has garnered a lot of praise and recognition." Going to ignore the Bat form for now, those were typically outside of his control.

"So," a brief purse of her lips, "anyone else we need to go over before your final report?"

the days passing after the red ring’s attack on SDN are a blur. she remembers holding down the front part of the building for as long as she could, shadows pushing back against the opposition. but one person could only do so much against a dozen. everything after that was hazy — a long winded struggle. the feeling of the butt of a gun hitting her temple, knocking her down; boots colliding with the softness of her stomach, air beaten out of her. then, it was lights out.

it was days before she woke up again. the dim lights of the infirmary made it a little easier to transition into being awake, eyelids fluttering. slowly but surely all of her senses began to be more aware. the beeping of the vitals monitor, the sterile smell of the room, and … sonar. sonar? her eyes flicker back and forth between him and the flowers (she assumes) he brought that were sat on her side table. daises. he’d remembered. he was dozed off but the moment she tries to move, it woke him up.

“ ehh … ” is all she can mutter, throat still bruised and sore. they really did a number on her. but she was always a fighter — then, and now. kasey blinks again, narrowing her eyes at the healing wounds that were visible on him. “ did we … ? ” win. did they win? her fingers twitch, she wants to reach a hand to him, but everything still felt so weak. instead, she offers a soft smile.
