To prepare for the storm, I went to Giant, bought half a pie and some canned soups, then went to the corner store near my apartment and bought bottled water and beer. Then I went online and checked weather sites for a while. Then I texted my boyfriend, "I'm scared." Then I wrote down in my physical address book the phone numbers of the people I know in the area, feeling very odd about it, like I was preparing for my own funeral. I ate a grilled cheese, two beers, and two slices of pie. I battened down the hatches. Then I unbattened them after someone mentioned you should keep the windows cracked. Then I wondered why the storm wasn't here yet. Then I went to bed.
I realize that the reason the storm is slow-moving is because it's freaking huge, and it's a hurricane, so it's not like an ordinary storm. Winds are supposed to get up to 50 mph by this afternoon/evening, I think, which is not as bad as people were saying, but still nothing to sneeze at.
I have homework, but don't feel motivated to do it because I'm all wired. My work is closed today, but I still have to work online from home, assuming I have power then.
