Sonic RPG Mock-up #2

some more playing around with a Sonic RPG idea - still focusing on how battles could look. liked the idea of a Phantasy Star “from behind” approach, but realized it’d make it hard to put the characters visually - portraits might not give that immersive “realistic” feel - but using them I can have the characters emote, and change expressions to reflect taking damage, using an attack, thinking about their next move, etc... which I think is probably cooler?

A little something I’ve come up with this evening. A while ago, I made a short comic about ‘someone else’ in SAVE fragment of True Pacifist boss battle being Gaster and so, as I replayed the game yesterday, I decided to give it a retouch using the original style.

Gaster’s words about destroying the Barrier and believing in Asgore are a slight reference to my fanfiction in which Dr Gaster had a brilliant idea to shatter the Barrier by overloading the CORE (which would eradicate most of the underground) and Asgore being not so hot over the very idea of destroying the Barrier in the first place, which caused a serious conflict between him and Gaster who solemnly believed in the rightness and tried his best. You know, the dedication.

Zero's route provides wonderful portrayals of all the red army officers, especially Edgar. Lancelot's strength and caring are clearly illuminated in this story.
