This week's Image Series: The Dance Battle is On September 2019 fg016 . Not sure who remembers the dance battles that were used as a medium to resolve disputes among the city youth of the '80s. These battles became a big part of the developing hip-hop scene. I remember the Kango hats, Gazelle glasses, and the large B-Box radios. And who can forget a city where every wall was tagged to the max with graffiti. On the last Summer weekend of 2019, I witnessed gentleman from that era along with young men battling in Fort Greene Park. Their vigorous acrobatic dance moves were on display as the afrobeat sounds filled the air. I was able to photographically document this special moment. It looked like a moment of the right of passage for the younger men, as the older men shared their dance moves. I hope you enjoy this week's nostalgic look at the past, "The Dance Battle is On". . @ronlouisfoster @ronlouisphotos @nycgo @patch @hiphopnation @dance @soulsummitmusic @nikonusa @natgeoyourshot @fortgreenepark @jeffmendozasoulsummitmusic . #dancebattle #battledance #fortgreenepark #fortgreenebrooklyn #fortgreene #hiphopdances #blackandwhite #urban #citylife #streetphotography #urbanphotography #documentry #ronlouisphotos #ronlouisfoster (at Fort Greene, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7O6mv0nfDc/?igshid=ajey73154whi
