> John: Enjoy your date.
That was the plan, to--
Wait, what?
Where did that even come from? That was such a silly notion, too, because this is most certainly not a date considering the fact that this is your best bro you're meeting up with. Your number one pal, your opposite twin in maybe another life as well as this one. Your derpier half--people should get the idea by now, right? You are only hanging out with him today, and today is most certainly not something you would call a date.
Ever.
What you did plan on doing is enjoy your favourite latte. It's one of the limited edition kinds, only whipped about for the holidays and today is probably the last day you get to enjoy it. You are going to make it count, savour every single sip, and make sure the sweetened taste lingers in your mouth.
> Take another sip.
You reach out for the mug and feel the cool porcelain alongside the warmth of the caffeinated drink, lifting it up to drink when Dave pops out of nowhere and takes his usual spot. It only stops you for a split-second, and then once that's over, you proceed to take a sip. You relish in the bittersweet aftertaste, feeling all fuzzy and content on the inside.
Even the smile on your face reflects it.
EB: you really need to try out this latte, dude.
EB: it is so good.
You don't mean to ignore his comment about traffic accidents, because you're sure they were a terrible thing, but you just can't help yourself. Your latte mattered more at that very moment.
EB: but yes, you did keep me waiting.
EB: you know that it's rude to do that. right, dude?
EB: you totally owe me a free drink now.
EB: bonus points if it's the same latte.
