Today I... (4:45pm)
I had one hour left before the chariot races began, so I decided to stay at the forum to try and resolve this issue. Last year, the plebs did the same thing asking that, “a law code be created and displayed for all to see because plebs were unhappy with the patrician stranglehold on legal authority.” At the time, everyone disagreed, but at this point, we don’t really have a choice anymore. So, in order to make the plebs come back into the city, we have created the “Twelve Tables” and displayed them in the forum for all to read. These law codes are basic rights for the conduct of citizens, for most issues are resolved within the family. We will see by tonight’s dinner how these laws work. For now, on to the chariot races…
