Dyus is God's name in Quechua. Percy Avalos Rojas is a second year student from Peru. His parents were evangelicals but their church did not practice biblical baptism. They searched and found the churches of Christ; they and Percy (at age 15) were baptized. Percy had been very active in the youth group in evangelical church, but with his baptism he told he could no longer interact with the other teens. He became very active in the Church of Christ that had been started by a Mission team from Freed-Hardeman University. They saw his potential as a future church leader and was sent to Baxter to study. When Dr. Phil Slate was visiting in March he was thrilled to hear Percy pray in Quechua, the language of indigenous people of the Andes mountains. #baxterstudents2016 #baxterperuvianstudents (at Baxter Institute)
