I'm not brave. I'm not. I am small and scared and hidden away in my safe place. My metaphorical coccoon that protects me from all the world outside. And even though I'm safe here in the dark and warmth, I'm suffocating. I can't unfurl my wings. So they stay wrapped around me like a vice. I don't know if I even know what they're for. Then he came along... and he shows me what it can be like when you fly. And it isn't frightening at all. It's freedom. And these wings aren't a prison they're a cradle. Holding me up until I'm ready to fall. Because the first step to flying is the fall. And he makes me believe one day I can break out of this safe place. This little nest I've woven for myself. The walls that keep me safe. I can break them down and I can let go of everything and just... not care. Fall. And be unafraid because I don't need anyone to catch me. I was there for myself all along. I can fly.
