Truly Devious series - Maureen Johnson

6/11/25 - 16/11/25 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series starts so rocky. It’s not that compelling and the characters feel odd. But then by the second book, it has become better. Less cringey. The romance plot is, admittedly, weak. I feel like keeping Stevie single would have been better in all. I’m just not keen on mainly female characters who are really passionate in what they do having to fall in love while doing it and getting distracted. It’s just a bit disheartening that it’s become a default outcome. The mystery itself is really good but in all honesty, the modern day one fell a bit flat for me. Like the answer was just stumbled upon.
