Black British Business Awards to Celebrate Entrepreneurs and Professionals
Now in its third consecutive year, The Black British Business Awards (BBBAwards) was originally founded by Management Consultant/Strategist Melanie Eusebe and international corporate finance lawyer Sophie Chanduka. The purpose of this scheme is to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of black British entrepreneurs and professionals. There are six industry categories in total:
Financial services. This may include finance and financial services; including banks, brokers, payment services, insurance companies, credit card funds and regulators.
Consumer and luxury. This may include food, beverage, household goods, retail, travel and leisure, cosmetics, personal and luxury goods.
Professional services. This may include law, accounting, management consultancy and in-house professionals.
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This may include health, industrials, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, transport and energy.
Arts and media. This may include all media, design, fashion, performance art, publishing and advertising.
Entrepreneur. This professional should have been operating their own business or enterprise for at least 18 months as of 5 May 2017.
The BBBAwards Business Person of the Year is chosen by the judges. This award is intended to celebrate a Senior Leader and inspirational role model who can demonstrate substantial commercial and strategic influence over a period of time. This person should have the potential to become an exceptional BBBAwards ambassador.
Black entrepreneurs and professionals based in the United Kingdom are eligible to apply. If they are chosen to be a finalist or award winner, they will gain opportunities to attract attention and support from industry, the press, current and potential employers as well as relationship partners.
Nominations should be made through the BBBAwards’ website alongside supporting evidence such as video links, press releases, news articles, photographs and testimonials. Supporting evidence should be submitted within one clearly labelled document which should be no longer than four A4 sides.
Judging will take place 6 July 2017 with a panel of judges chaired by Sophie Chanduka, Executive Director and Chief Administrative Officer of Morgan Stanley's Legal and Compliance Division in EMEA. An awards luncheon will then take place 19 October 2017 at The Grange, St Paul's Hotel, London.
The next deadline for applications is 2 May 2017.
