I've been getting more comments than usual on random fic lately (some I completely forgot I wrote), which has been lovely (although I'm overdue on responding, oops). in that spirit—the spirit of spreading fannish joy—here are some fics I've read recently-ish and loved and maybe you will also love.

All To Look Forward To by @rain-braiding-down-a-window-pane

ACGAS 2020, Audrey/Siegfried. the dialogue, y'all. it reads so true, so real, so THEM; I could roll around in it for days. and for a story that doesn't have an actual sex scene, it is so very sexy. (@rain-braiding-down-a-window-pane consistently gives wonderful, slightly-unexpected-yet-true dialogue for Audrey and Siegfried, and her Audrey and Siegfried always have pasts that inform their presents/futures in ways that just. Work. So. Well. For. Me. They're prickly, and complicated, and hit realistic stumbling blocks and then work through them. And they're always just so sexy, whether or not there's actual sex on the screen. Seriously, read all her fic.)

The Seventeenth of December by @chainofclovers

ACGAS 2020, Audrey/Siegfried, Carmody/OFC, Carmody/OMC. Look, I'll be honest: I spent an entire second before clicking on this fic worried that Carmody POV wasn't going to work for me, right up until the next second when I started reading and realized, holy shit this Carmody POV really works for me. His house! His family! His career! His happy, perfectly Carmody, life! Just everything about it is a wonderful delight, including his observations about an older Audrey and Siegfried who are very much in love. But seriously this glimpse at a happy, queer, joyful future for Carmody is just so perfect.

ACGAS 2020, Audrey/Siegfried. Trans man Siegfried has rewired my brain in the best way—like, I suddenly felt an in with him that I hadn't before, if that makes sense, like suddenly he clicked for me (whether or I'm thinking of him as trans or cis in any particular moment). The whole series is absolutely lovely (read it all!), just wonderful moments of trans joy and affirmation (both romantic and familial and otherwise), but this one is my favorite of the lot (it's the Audrey/Siegfried shipper in me). It's sexy, and funny, and the Audrey in it is absolutely wonderful as well—and the visual of them waking up in the night to—no, I'll let you read it unspoiled, just know I love that so much.

Still, Again by @walkthegale

Shetland, Ruth/Tosh. As the tags say, "Ruth Calder is bad at feelings" (aside from me: and that is why I love her so), and Tosh gets to be angry about that. It's just so hot. So, so hot. With good character bits all baked in—both Ruth and Tosh are just so clearly THEM, in every way, from passive aggression to hope to righteous anger to honesty. I don't know what else to say, other than you should read it. (and then read everything @walkthegale has written about Ruth/Tosh and thank me later.)

Blood in the Blueprint by lawlessearth

Andor, Vel Sartha, Kleya Marki, and Mon Mothma. The author's note says this story (and series, although this is the first I've read) was "written because I wanted to write a fight scene like the one between Starbuck and Apollo in Battlestar Galactica," and I'd say it's a rousing success when it comes to that goal. But what I love about this fic—even more than the well-written fight scene—is the insight into Vel, Kleya, and Mon, all through Vel's eyes, and just so sharp and good. It's painful, it's real, and I felt like I'd gone through ten rounds with the world by the end.
