Lecture 2: Jazz giant (composer, multi-instrumentalist, and bandleader) Duke Ellington (1899-1974) performs his classic tune “Rockin’ in Rhythm,” originally recorded in 1931, but featured here on BBC television in 1964. As one account noted: “Ellington was known for allowing his talented musicians to shine in solos and this song provides that for Barney Bigard in a brief but memorable solo on the clarinet. Overall, though, ‘Rockin’ in Rhythm’ shows off Ellington’s skill at arranging an ensemble piece. With its upbeat, lively tempo, the song helped pave the way for the big band swing music that was to come later in the decade and into the 1940s. Ellington said of the song that it is ‘as close as an arrangement gets to sounding spontaneous.’“
Oh, this is really nice. Yeah, it's clearly CG, but it's very well-executed CG and I don't mind at all. So cool that the BBC used it in the recent War Games re-release!

More Outlander Actors
I recently watched The Tudors and recognized Maria Doyle Kennedy as Catherine of Aragon. Now I am watching the series Recipes for Love and Murder, and Maria is the star. I looked her up on Wiki, and discovered I have probably seen her in other things before Jocasta Cameron from Outlander.
I think I know who the murderer is, but am probably wrong. But do not tell me who it is in case you have seen the series. I am on the eighth episodes, and think there are 10.
Now I learn she is an Irish singer, and need to look her up. She is also 24 years younger than I am.
So, now I have seen Sam, Catriona, Ed, and Maria in movies other than Outlander. I am fascinated at who all keeps turning up (yes, I have seen Graham as Dwalin in the Hobbit series).
It was yesterday I watched the Tommy and Tuppence three-episode of their miniseries and saw Ed Speleers (Stephen Bonnet). First time I have seen him in something other than Outlander.
On a side note, this 3-episode series featured Roy (??) who played Adam Dalgleish in several movies from the P. D. James books. It took me a few minutes to realize who he was. I admire him as an actor, and love the James books.
So I am watching Acorn and BBC and Starz and getting quite a lot of information about many actors. I hope I run across the actor who plays Murtagh soon.
