Right. So, a lot of people are #johnlock shippers. I get it. I am too. But in the most non-romantic way possible. I mean I want them to get married and all. But because Sherlock would be lost without his doctor.
Sherlock is a kid. A kid who loves John, looks up to him, feels protective of him, looks out for him and wants the absolute best for him. If you've ever seen Sherlock just looking at John, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
When Mary comes into the picture, we see Sherlock getting obviously jealous but also looking after Mary. Why? Because like a kid who interviews every girlfriend/boyfriend of the person they love, Sherlock also goes through John's girlfriends. He never really remembers any of his girlfriends but Mary, he always remembers and even takes a liking to her.
I mean, I liked Mary initially because she liked Sherlock without John in the equation. But the truth of the matter is, Sherlock too liked Mary without John in the equation despite him being the reason behind these 2 meeting.
All signs point to Sherlock loving John in the way only a kid can love his mother, hence making this relationship the most purest in the whole wide world.
