— Tuning In

Faking reactions people wanted to see wasn’t a measure he was a stranger to, after all, human relations were majorly — if not entirely — based on putting up various fronts. But this Cheongnam alumni crowd was something else. Most of those he used to cross paths with still matched the faint memories he had of them. And they dare to say people change. At first he thought of the meritorious plan that he would stay sober throughout the whole reunion, but he let the idea burn to ashes almost immediately. He might’ve been carrying some self-hatred, yet he had enough self-respect not to sentence his own self to such agony.
So far he was rather restrained in his drinking; despite being at the verge getting plastered, he didn’t want his vice to publicly have the best of him. Jiyong felt his cheeks could’ve gotten a tad rosy, but if any explanation was needed, he could always blame it on the humidity. His mouth was also prone to talk as well as curve into a smile. Mindlessly swirling the drink remaining in his glass, he leaned against the wall as his gaze briefly examined the ones walking by. Subconsciously he hoped to discern somebody, whose company could turn out to be pretty welcome. It seemed like it was too much to ask for, given the prancing glitterati.
Unexpectedly, in the sea of changing faces was one with some more agreeable familiarity attached to it. “Baekhyun,” straightening his slouchy posture upon catching sight of the other man, Jiyong offered a relatively heartfelt grin. “Fancy meeting you here.”
