                 spoken without words, those three little words were conveyed through the soft press of lips against the skin at the underside of her ear, just before the curve of her jaw. it was whispered ghosting a trail at her bare spine, the gentle and affectionate press of skin as he tugged her close. it was the desperation to seek her out in the darkness, to keep her close, to show her that she was his home.

          it was spoken through desperation, a domination attempt to remain on top in the darkness. it was the possessive curl of fingers ‘round hips, the crashing of lips against lips as they sought each other out blindly. it was the quiet gasps and moans as they tried to get closer, closer, closer . . .

           they were tangled up together, pressed so tightly to one another that even in the darkness, they could almost make out each other’s faces. it was the murmur of words, a promise, pressed as a kiss to the top of her head as they dozed into unconscious. he would carry the universe on his back if she asked it of him.

                           THIS WAS NOTHING NEW.  they’d sat together like this countless times. she’d lost track who was in the lead of patching the other up but it doesn’t really matter, does it.  ❛  i know. i can do it myself, it’s fine.  ❜  but she knows as she says it he wasn’t going to just let her do it herself. since she can think he’s always looked out for her - never missed an opportunity - and there was no reason that would change anytime soon. tired, green eyes follow his steps as he goes to get her some ice. small, grateful smile on her features. hard to notice but it’s there. once he’s by her side again, she reaches for the small pack, studying him attentively while putting it in position. he didn’t even say anything but she hates the way he looks at her. because it says everything. silent sigh escapes her lips. ❛  don’t look at me like that.  ❜
