ben @majorbaby gave me some fucking DELICIOUS prompts for the kink prompt ask meme, one of which was houlihawk and either whipping or facesitting. as the title suggests, i went with facesitting. unfortunately it turns out i cannot write concisely to save my life and what was supposed to be a teeny little snippet is over 600 words now. good thing i love these two
4. welcome to korea (MASH)
this is a very short wip, created mostly because i'm a little bit of a text gorehound and i had a random idea for some gory descriptions. i might rework it, but it currently functions as an extension of part of the s4 premiere, showing us what BJ saw when he turned that body over and was so horrified that he vomited.
6. things escalate (MASH, nsfw)
this is technically cheating because the actual title of this section in my WIP doc is basically a short summary of the premise, so this title is just a truncated version of that. trapper brings a nurse back to the swamp for a nightcap, thinking that hawkeye is asleep. he isn't. things escalate. this is just one of several fics that currently exist in my "hawkeye and trapper fuck other people about each other" extended canon, which is not at all intentional but i can't say i'm mad about it.
8. fading summer skies / all things bright and beautiful (MASH, bummer)
while i was working on a different fic about hawkeye having attempted suicide (discussed here), i had an idea for a whole new sad fic! hawkeye reaches the end of his rope and almost takes his life.
despite that, there's actually a funny story about this one. i was researching medications commonly used in the korean war, and one that came up was sodium thiopental. it's an intravenous anesthetic that's been used for euthanasia and lethal injections, but one side effect is significant respiratory depression so it wasn't as desirable as other anesthetics. i figured that would be a good pick for hawkeye, because if it's less in-demand he wouldn't feel so guilty about taking some. turns out there is literally an episode called "out of gas" where the main plot is getting more pentothal, one of the brand names of sodium thiopental! in reality, i don't believe pentothal was ever used as a gas, so technically i could just brush over that, but i haven't decided.

Instead, the room swings as Hawkeye flips them over sideways, then drags her on top of him, tugging her up until she's straddling his collarbone, knees tucked into the hollows of his armpits. She lifts up on her haunches, afraid she's going to crush him.
“What are you–” she starts, before the look on Hawkeye's face tells her she's being too loud and she brings it down to a hiss, “–doing?”
“Showing you how to shut me up,” he says, and licks his lips. It's deliberately, exaggeratedly lascivious, a clear attempt to provoke her, but the tone of his voice is more telling than he means for it to be. A little too earnest.

He turned the soldier over and recoiled immediately. The bottom half of the man’s face was gone, the red and pink meat of his throat and jaw and neck flayed open. Blood pumped out of him in a steady flood, staining everything around him a shocking arterial red. Wet, gurgling noises emitted from his esophagus, and what was left of his tongue curled and uncurled uselessly like a worm cut in half, some stray nerve endings sparking at random. His eyes stared up at the sky, lids fluttering, seeing nothing. The look on what remained of his face was not one of pain or terror, but of faint surprise, the kind of look you might have if you saw an old acquaintance somewhere unexpected or missed a step going downstairs.

“C'mon, honey, let's get those scrubs off.” Trapper's voice was low and a little husky. Hawkeye tried very, very hard to ignore how that sent a bolt of heat to his groin. A rustling of fabric behind him indicated that the nurse had complied. He hoped it was Baker. Hawkeye had only ever gotten to second base with her, but her tits had been incredible, two heaping handfuls that he had wanted to play with like a teenager copping his first feel. She knew it, too, knew how much they drove him crazy, loved cinching her scrubs tighter on days they had duty together. He could see an image in his mind’s eye of Trapper cupping her breasts with his big hands, teasing her nipples into stiff peaks as she arched her back, and had to stifle a moan of his own. Shit. Shit.
8. fading summer skies / all things bright and beautiful
Once he considers the medicine stocks - better living through chemistry, or better dying, anyway - it's actually quite easy to make his final pick. Sodium thiopental, an anesthetic. They have a fair stock of it, and they rarely use it because of the concern about respiratory suppression. Not a concern in his case, of course. He thinks about pairing it with a muscle relaxant to really seal the deal, but he doesn't want to have to worry about balancing the doses, and decamethonium is much more in need. He already doesn’t like dipping into the hospital stocks.
@bbjkrss-blog gave me viewing access to his MASH fic planning document and it's literally a hundred pages long. my phone gets mad at me every time i open it but it's so worth it

17. How well do they communicate? Are they open with their feelings/thoughts or more reserved? Why?
i think we see them communicate quite well for the most part in canon, and i imagine this carries over into a romantic relationship. i think that when it's too hard to say something, they might be more inclined to show it instead (e.g., trapper's final kiss)
20. How do they comfort each other when one of them is upset? Is this method of comfort effective?
they try to make each other laugh, no question. hawkeye in particular leans very hard on this. when that doesn't work, they both want to be physically reassured. hugged, lavished with kisses, curling up around each other in bed, they just want to be loved on so good that it chases the bad feelings away or at least quiets them down. i think both of these methods are effective for both of them. hawkeye definitely pulls out the groucho/yankee doodle doctor character all the time, which is inexplicably also effective UNLESS he tries to kiss trapper when he still has the greasepaint moustache on (this has happened more than once and trapper hates it so much).

elaborate nonsense, sincere and deep-rooted love and affection, getting hawkeye pregnant
