fucked up question because Hyde could NOT answer this in a single sentence, not even 3! maybe 5! it'd take this as an opportunity to yaaap and yap and infodump.
So no *one* favourite game, but one for each "type" of board game that Hyde likes.
Strategy and Resource Management
ㅤㅤRoot !ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ Catan !
Hyde LOVES his long strategy games, where trading and resource management are important. it helps him practice at "breaking the rules" aka not being so nice and a pushover. Root is his favourite of the two, he loves playing as the Mice trying to overthrow the Marquise de Chat and put a stop to her rule over the forest. Catan is the game Hyde will say if you give it a weird look about the nicheness of Root / if you don't know Root.
Puzzles / Detective
Sherlock Holmes : Darkness over London
Hyde loves playing the hard mode (as Sherlock), it finds a great lot of fun in finding and connecting clues. Very satisfying when it has a puzzle it can solve, many side quests to find a solution to, and is rewarded for noticing details and keeping them in mind when that rarely happens in real life. It's also a solo game, so Hyde doesn't have to worry about it being accessible or fun to other players — something it often worries about, since it's trying to spread the simple joy of board games but its favourites are often complex or intimidatingly long for newbies.
Card Games
Flip 7 ! ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ Pokemon TCG !
Just... fun games. Flip 7 rewards taking your chance and gambling, something Hyde rarely counts on in real life, and Pokemon TCG is similar in the drawing cards aspect, but it loves that it can play against others and build a deck etc etc.
👍👍👍 I've discovered the world of board games hobbyists.
