Little known fact about me. I took a holiday with my friend and we went to Vancouver the day the Ashcroft Reserve Fire (aka the one that caused 100 Mile to evacuate) started. We saw the tiny plume of smoke. A day later, 100 Mile was on alert and my holiday was spent panicking over 1) if I could get home on the 14th as planned 2) whether or not I would have a home because the fires are everywhere in British Columbia. My friend and I delayed our trip by an extra two days, in case there were any evacuees stranded in Vancouver at the time. The bus route home? Instead of about maybe 6 options/routes to take we had one. We drove past the 11,000 people evacuated out of Williams Lake the night we headed home. Its a scary scary fire season. I think its going to be worse than the 2003 scare. Australia is here to help, the Army has been called in, there are like 36,000 evacuees in British Columbia alone last I heard.

Update:

So I had to evacuate because of all the fires around my hometown (Don’t worry, my house isn’t on fire, it’s just that two fires jumped a river and cut off northern exit), but I'm having fun three towns over with family!  It’s basically a surprise vacation, and I’m still getting paid for the shifts I was scheduled for the next week.  And best of all- I keep getting discounts and free stuff cause I’m an evacuee! Like, I'm not stressing or in horrible debt or anything, we brought all the critters with us, but I'm not gunna turn down free swimming and red robin’s and clothing discounts ;P

TL;DR: I’m fine, My dog is fine, my house isn’t on fire *^^*

My home is currently surrounded by fire. We haven’t had such a bad fire season since 2003. There was no rain in June. And this has only been going on for maybe 9 days. It feels like it’s already been forever. Stress drags it all out. Makes the days seem longer. Cloaks the air with the darkness of smoke that is sometimes so thick, I can’t see my neighbors across the road. Ash falls on my house like rain. The air tastes like a constant source of campfire.

My boys are suffering from constant nosebleeds. We’ve all got irritated eyes. We’re currently under and an evacuation alert (meaning be ready to GTFO if they tell us to), a boil water advisory, and an air quality advisory. One of the vehicles we have goes with the boys’ dad to the firefighter center (he’s stationed on the fires), and another is loaded with all of our precious belongings and keepsakes.

I can’t wait to find somewhere to be able to breathe. I just want fresh, clean tasting air. I just want to be able to sleep without worry.
