What's been your most gratifying moment at Columbia?
So I'd say my most gratifying moment probably wasn't a moment, nor was it at Columbia. But this last semester was really the first semester that I felt like I was a part of New York City and really a part of campus. And so this whole past semester I guess is a really gratifying moment in itself, that I kind of started to consider New York to be home. I've always loved the Children's Grotto in Central Park. You go up, and you can see the whole southern skyline of the city, and there's usually nobody there. And if there are it's usually children and they don't care. I like that part of the city. And then just, Morningside Heights is becoming my jam.
Do you have any weird superstitions or rituals?
Um, I have a lot of weird superstitions and rituals. I think just cause it's a mixture of like, I'm a little OCD, and I never really stopped believing in magic, so a lot of that stuff happens. [Laughs] I always have to, when I'm brushing my teeth I always have to take 9 sips of water. It's really embarrassing now that I say that out loud. Yeah, so I'll do things 9 times, which is... But like, it doesn't you know, cramp my style, in life. It doesn't stop me from pursuing my goals.
What is your favorite part of your body?
This is gonna sound vain. Probably my waist, cause it's sort of in disproportion to the rest of my body and makes me look like I'm from the forties. I love bulky sweaters though, sort of.
What's your anthem?
Dancing With Myself, by Billy Idol. Oh, that has been my anthem for years. I love it. Because it's catchy, and I can dance to it, and the message really speaks to me.

What's been your most gratifying moment at Columbia?
I think my most gratifying moment...probably be...Here let me think about this for a second. I feel like I have a few that I can choose from. I think finishing my term on the board of the Columbia Marching Band. I was the treasurer for the past year, and it was an experience that at first I was a little bit nervous about getting you know, so involved in. But it was really fantastic, I got to commit to going to every football game this past season, which was an experience in itself [laughs] and I got to work with I think some of the greatest people out there. It's just such an inclusive, fun group, and I got to see it grow so much this year, both membership, musicality, got a lot funnier. And it's just a really genuine group of people. So being able to stick with that and have a bit of influence on a group that has impacted my life so much was really great.
What do you think is people's first impression of you?
I think it depends on where I am. I think sometimes I can build myself up and seem super confident and fun and people have more of a sociable excited sort of first impression. But sometimes when I feel a little bit intimidated, or unfamiliar, it can be probably a little bit shy, not even much of an impression. But working on keeping it the first way.
What's your most important material possession?
I know it's like, cliché, but probably my laptop. Just because I use it to communicate with people, you can use it to collaborate, you can use it for school, for fun, you can find out anything you want on the internet. Yeah, so.
If you could lucid dream, what would you dream about?
I've actually, this is sort of funny, always wanted to about having a bunch of super powers and just being able to fly and like teleport around the world and just have a bunch of crazy experiences that you would be able to in your every day life by just flying around everywhere, meeting all these crazy people, having new experiences that you won't usually be able to have. And then if you get into any trouble or things got out of hand, you could just sort of go to the next place and have the next adventure. I think that'd be fun. Off the top of my head it's hard to think of a specific name of a person, but I think it would be really neat to be able to go to places that are a little off the beaten path, and talk to the people there. In the middle of nowhere, anywhere. I've spent a good amount of time in big Chinese cities - Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou - but I think it would be really cool to be able to go around smaller villages and places like that for a while, meet people there. And the same thing for any continent and any country really.

What's been your most gratifying moment at Columbia?
This is gonna sound weird, but one day, I... I don't know if it's the most gratifying moment, but there was this one day where I went, I had class all day long, and then I went to like, four different lectures. One on linguistics, I went to that Stop and Frisk talk, and then I went to a lecture, it was like a leader of the world lecture. And then after that I had dinner with friends, and it was just like, I don't know I felt like I learned so much, it was so interesting, but I didn't have to be tested on it, it was just like something I enjoyed learning about and hearing. It was nice. Nerdy!
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A fireman. Because my sister wanted to be a doctor and so I assumed there were only like, two things to be. So if she was going to be a doctor, I wanted to be a fireman. And it had a red hat.
What tattoo would you get and where?
Oh my gosh. I don't know. I would do it somewhere... So actually, I was thinking I would do it like, on my wrist or ankle, but I recently read, I don't remember where, it was on Facebook or something like that, and it was just something making fun of all these girls who got tattoos on their wrists and ankles, so now I can't do that, so I like, don't know where I'd get anything. And I don't know what I'd get because, like flowers are fine but they're boring. Nothing really means anything to me.
What would a good surprise be right now?
No more midterms. That would be the most beautiful thing in the world.
