Throwing my hat into the ring...
Recently there have been a number of entities popping up on the blogosphere representing the various facets of faith in the Unification Church community. That there are differences of opinion is fine; everyone has their own unique course they must follow to find God. But in the time and place we live, with the public exposure of the online community, what we choose to say can potentially have a far greater impact than ever before.
What has transpired here on tumblr has, in my opinion, been neither exclusively good nor exclusively bad. I believe that good intentions got mixed with pain, and anger, and maybe betrayal. Somebody got hurt. And though the results of that pain are cause for concern, the pain is legitimate.
I'm not gonna pretend that I know who the writer/s of HWDYKYM is/are, because I don't. But speaking from human to human, I think we can all agree that we all want love, and when we feel like that love isn't there, it's painful.
We've all experienced pain. I've experienced growing up with no idea what it feels like to have a Dad. I've experienced having my brother (my only sibling) being labeled a "retard" by society. I've watched (and continue to watch) both my Mom and my brother come way too close to dying. And I, perhaps like many of you reading this, have had the essence of my faith (which, for BC's, is a big component of our existence) questioned, challenged and ridiculed. None of us are strangers to pain.
I would like to propose that we address these longstanding issues as an opportunity to heal the pain - yours, mine, ours. Instead of attacking each other, consider the fact that we all have different stories, but they all share common themes.
One of the signature phrases Rev. Moon has used in his life course is "Forgive, Love, Unite". You can debate the context of those words all you want. But don't forget the words themselves. We all can gain a lot from them.
