BUT the question is... did Cowlip intend for Ethan to be likeable? If they created Michael and intended him to the the central character that everyone could love/relate to... maybe Ethan's goatee was meant to be hot. Maybe the anal sex/violin metaphors were meant to be adorable. Maybe we were meant to weep when the relationship ended. Maybe. Just maybe.
