BC Trip Day 1: July 26 2014
The trip to BC is same old same old. Our family has driven the Canada 1 like 30+ times yet today... I haven't been home for 4 weeks cause Shad and had literally gotten zero sleep on the last night of Shad and now apparently we're picking someone up first and taking them to BC with us. Woohoo (great start with intense sarcasm).
We drive to Hope only since we plan on hitting Vancouver Island first. I guess the most interesting parts of the day were the discussion topics in the car:
1) My chinese has really started slipping since the 4 weeks I've gone to Shad Valley. I think my parents recognized it too, but they didn't say anything about it. Languages really do need to be used consistently...hopefully it gets better. If my parents did point it out though, I probably wouldn't have known what to say.
2) USANA discussion (also where I realized my chinese was slipping). I was doubtful the entire way and debated on it. I feel like when it comes to debating I do better in chinese yet with everyday conversation I'm more fluent with English...yet I'm like Debate Exec now. Go figure. I should work on debate.
3) Person who carpooled with us forgot wallet. I was like HOW. YOU'RE DRIVING 1000 KM TO A CITY OVER THE MOUNTAINS HOW DO YOU FORGET. Thankfully we didn't have to go back and retrieve it (her friend was going to Vancouver the same day too)...thank god.
4) Tell my parents about Shad. So hard to describe. Also didn't think they would even care that much but I explained it in (again rough chinese) anyway.
We get to hope and the person gets picked up in a Porsche for the rest of the trip. Today I've learned that dude, Vancouverites are rich (don't think I've ever seen a Porsche in Calgary) and that Chinese vancouverites are pretentious. Porsche is Bill Gates car. Also my family members don't believe me when I say it's pronounced like "Portia".
Writing this, I'm reflecting back on myself and thinking "I have no idea how I got a 92 in English since I felt like my writing in this blog was terrible and that I was just writing whatever came to my mind. There was no planning whatsoever. Ahh whateves :)
