Tate owned a lot of clutter ; He related himself to a crow in that type of way , he liked to collect just random things that other people might see as trash but for whatever , the brought him a sense of joy . Constance was always getting on his case about being such a pack rat .  “ You can put like , your hair crap and stuff here .”  He gestured to the now empty surface on one half of his dresser --- It’s not like he tied it up well , he literally just took his arm and swept it all to the other side .  “ I don’t really care , honestly . Just put stuff where ever . Just don’t like , toss my records around but I don’t feel like I need to tell you that .”

Tate let out a lingering sigh as they watched the stranger disappear into the distance.  “She’s just scared,”  he shook his head; There were a million and one reasons to not trust anyone anymore. Only Tate and Shane knew that he was genuine on the offer of food and shelter, back at The Sanctuary, but she had no reason to believe that.  “I wonder what she’s seen. There’s no way she’s made it this long all by herself.”  He cupped his hands up above his eyes to block out the sun and there was no sight of her anymore. Tate considered asking Shane if they could go after her, but decided it just wasn’t worth the hassle. It didn’t even look like she had much to offer up in exchange for safety, anyhow.  “... Oh well. You wanna keep moving??”

“Wait and stay are essential parts of obedience training,”  Tate joked, reaching up over his shoulder to give Billy a playfully little grab at his jaw.  “My ma use a run a doggy daycare back in Los Angeles.”  And with that, he gave Billy a bump with his back, since he had insisted on getting up in his personal space. He stepped out from between the counter and his boyfriend’s solid frame, the mug of fresh coffee in hand that he had been trying to peacefully pour. A sly look was thrown in the other boy’s direction,  “I promise you can get on this later. It’s Friday, which means Larry is gonna be taking Constance out. We’ll be alone,”  he whispered.  “But for now -- Come watch morning Cartoons with me and Addie.”

“Yeah, throw it away!!”  Tate crossed his arms over his chest, staring deep and unblinking towards his brother. The bottle of Whiskey was just sitting there on the counter of their shared trailer. He had half a mind to grab it himself and bust it all over the concrete outside but it was the principle of the matter. He wanted Jimmy to muster up the strength himself to get rid of it.  “That shit was killing ma and I’ll be damned if I’m going to sit around here and watch you kill yourself with it too!! Get a fucking grip!!”  It wasn’t like him to speak to his brother in such a way. Jimmy had always been Tate’s hero despite him only being a few minutes older. But since their mom passed away, he had turned into a completely different person.  “You think I’m not upset about ma?!”  He gestured angrily to his own chest.  “I am!! I’m fucking devastated, but I also have enough respect for her to do what she wanted us to do in life, and that’s not drink myself into an early grave!!”

“Billy, calm down, it was just a nightmare.”  Tate had hoped that as time went on, as Starcourt was put deeper and deeper into the past, the dreams might start to slow; But that had been nothing but wishful thinking. It wasn’t the first time and Tate knew it surely wasn’t the last time, that in his sleep, Billy had been brought back to that moment where he had almost been a victim of whatever that monstrosity was that possessed him. Tate had his own issues when he thought about what could have been; Billy (no, not Billy, that creature) had yanked him so roughly out of the Camaro that he thought his shoulder might have been misplaced. Dragged across the gravel and cement --- Tate shook the memory from his head and focused on settling the other boy down. He was still half asleep, eyes squinted to see him because there was no light in his basement bedroom except for the door on the far end that pointed towards the back streets. “I forgive you,”  he reminded gently, hands cradling his face.  “That wasn’t you, I know you’d never do something like that to me, okay?? It’s okay, I’m okay --- I’m right here.”  Tate was emotionally damaged from the events but ultimately, he had only minor injuries from the event.  “Take a breath. Everything is fine now.”

Tate already had one foot out the passenger door.  “Uh...”  He glanced towards the front of his house; All the lights inside were out and the streets were darkened except for the lamps that sparsely lined them. Surely no one could see them.  “Okay --- Really quick.”  His leg was brought back inside the Camaro and Tate did a quick glance out the rear window, because they could never be too careful. Not only would their reputations be ruined, though Billy’s was much more precious than his own, word could easily circulate through the grapevine of a small town and get back to their parents. Who knew what would happen then. He leaned over the center console and played a short-lived peck to the other man’s lips.  “Satisfied??”

“ You’re being rough ,”  Tate complained . And for a moment longer , Tate continue to shield his scraped up palms against his core . But he sighed and extended them back out towards Billy . It wasn’t the worst injury he’d ever sustained but it was a sensitive area and Billy was heavy handed . Scrubbing at the gravel and dirt in his wounds with the same amount of strength that Tate had seen him use when cleaning his Camaro’s rims .  “ You don’t have to be so mean about it .”
