好好笑,俩人小使坏的时候都是一个表情 *抿下唇*
Tess对Ellie:能偷出来不?
Alec对Lee:你俩不会吵架了吧
Happy New Year
Alec Hardy didn’t get a New Year’s text.
The racket of fireworks outside was enough to make anyone’s skin crawl, so he stuffed two scraps of paper into his ears, took his pills, and went to bed. When he woke up, it was a new year; nothing to report, really, other than the calendar ticking over.
Ellie Miller sent "Happy New Year" to everyone. For her, it was just another year—a natural extension of a life lived one happy day at a time. Broadchurch was a tight-knit warm little place; even when things were bleak, nobody had the heart to snub Angel Ellie and her relentless cheer. That was just how they did things every year.

This year, Alec Hardy still hadn't received any wishes. He’d even gone as far as to text Brian first: "Happy New Year." We all noticed the full stop at the end—it clearly scared the living daylights out of the man. A panicked Brian had scurried off with his drink and phone to check with colleagues, only to find that no one else had received such a cryptic message. Just him. Brian took it as a piece of spiteful revenge from his former boss, or perhaps a New Year’s hex.
But Alec Hardy wasn't being malicious, nor was he being sincere. He just wanted an opening to ask if there was any word on Miller, and he couldn't think of anyone else to bug. Brian was simply the Chosen One, the Harry Potter of Broadchurch.
Brian had nothing to tell. He hadn't heard from Ellie Miller for a long time, and he hadn't reached out either—none of them had. People generally preferred to avoid the awkwardness of it all.
Hardy did have a message sitting in his drafts meant for Miller. He just couldn't decide if "Happy" was the right word to use.

Chloe and Daisy sat together; Ellie and Beth were side-by-side. Hardy was doing his level best to get some soup to wee Fred, though the spoon’s final destination was inevitably Hardy's own trousers. Mark had to head upstairs to find him a towel and pyjama bottom. Daisy wandered over and crowned him with a blue paper hat from a cracker. It pinned his fringe down, blocking his view, but he heard Miller’s voice from across the table: "Happy New Year, Hardy."
"Happy New Year, Miller," he grunted, eyes closed. He reached up to yank his fringe out from under the paper crown, only to have his vision obscured again—this time by Daisy, who had leaned in from behind to give him a hug.
