He should've known, honestly. The target had seemed far too gullible - almost too perfect. And of course he'd decided to handle it himself. Sod the hitmen who he keeps an eye on. Maybe he was too confident. Went in too careless.
But he's walking home with his blazer balled up and shoved against a bleeding side where a bullet grazed him. The target had a fucking gun tucked into the back of his pants. And two fists ready to fight, even when the gun was wrestled from his hands. Didn't matter in the end- still was left dead in a ditch.
Asa walks into their flat. It's past midnight, and he really hopes he doesn't wake the dog up. Or Silas. Or their guest. His face has been beaten, bruised, and bloodied. And he's trying not to bleed onto their nice rugs. Water from the sink on a wet paper towel and some ice is probably his best option... he sees the light turn on and winces as he turns. "Love-" He swallows thickly. "It's... got into a bit of a... mugging... I'm fine, though..."
