Make Papa Rei smile

Woooo ok this is my first Buddy Daddies fanfic lol. Rei is an absolute sweetheart and needs all the hugs and tickles so I wrote this hehe.

Summery: Miri wants to see Rei smile

Ever since Miri walked into their lives, Kazuki and Rei had their hands full. Rei wasn’t used to seeing anyone be this cheerful and upbeat. It was almost exhausting just to watch. He was certainly grateful that Kazuki did most of the work to take care of the kid.

Often times he had no idea what to do with her. He was trained to be a hitman. An assassin who kills. Not some babysitter.

“PAPA REEIIIII!!!!”

He winced at the loud noise that caused him to wake up. That was another thing he wasn’t used to. Having a human alarm clock to wake up to every morning.

He attempted to roll over in his bathtub, trying to go back to sleep. Suddenly he felt a heavy weight nail him right in the middle. He let out a loud “oof” sound, his eyes squeezed shut and watering from pain.

He opened them to see a little girl in a brown Bob cut beaming down at him. He sighed. “Miri what time is it?”

“It’s breakfast O’Clock!!!!” She cried gleefully. “Papa Reiiiii!!! Make me breakfast! I want that yummy cereal!!!!”

Rei yawned. “It’s too damn early for this. Go back to sleep.”

Miri huffed and puffed out her cheeks in frustration. “No! I want breakfast!!! I’m hungryyy!!! Papa Reiiii!!!!!”

Rei sighed again. “Have Kazuki make it for you.”

“No way! Papa Kazuki won’t let me eat it. He’ll force me to eat stuff like icky mushrooms and tomatoes and vegetables!”

“Sorry kid. Cant help you here. I’m tired.”

“Awwww Cmon just get up!!!” She pushed at his shoulders. He just groaned and shut his eyes.

“You should really stop being so grumpy Papa Rei! I wanna see you smile!”

“Sorry Miri. I’ve already told you before I don’t smile. I haven’t in a long time.”

“Hm… then I can help you smile!” Miri offered with a grin. “See?!” She started making silly faces, sticking out her tongue and making obnoxious noises.

“Ugh just go away.”

“No! If you won’t make me breakfast you can at least show me a smile!!!” She demanded.

“And how exactly do you plan to do that?” He asked her, admittedly somewhat curious.

“Well I can sing you a funny song! Or make funny faces!” She began singing high pitched the only words that she could think would sound silly enough. But of course, it didn’t work.

“Awww Cmon just smile papa Rei!!!” She poked at his cheek with a grumpy expression.

Rei sighed. He shouldn’t have to be here all morning dealing with this. He had video games waiting for him. He finally got Miri off him and climbed out of his tub for a bed.

Miri followed him out and they went to the kitchen to see Kazuki making breakfast. “Morning sleepy head!” The blonde teased his exhausted partner.

“Papa Kazuki! Help me make Papa Rei smile!” Miri asked him with determination.

Kazuki laughed. “Papa Rei isn’t much of a smiler.”

“I’m not Papa Rei.” The raven head deadpanned from the couch, which he had gone to to play his video games.

“Cmon Rei! You can show Miri that your smile!” Kazuki encouraged his partner, almost as if to say Cmon please just humor the kid if you want to shut her up.

“Sorry, no thanks.” Rei muttered. Kazuki sighed at his partner. Although his stubbornness towards something like this was pretty endearing. He sat himself next to Rei on the couch, poking at his cheek. “Cmon Reiiii show it to us!”

“Yeah come on Rei!” Miri cheered, running to his other side to poke his other cheek. Rei sat their, trying hard to ignore them as he played his video games.

Eventually Kazuki began poking him lower in the middle of his side, and he stiffened up, instinctively grabbing the blondes wrists.

Kazuki was supprised at the sudden gesture to protect himself, but a mischievous smirk slowly appeared on his face. “Huh? What’s this Rei?” Kazuki asked, trying to poke again, only to get the same reaction.

“Dude no freaking way, are you ticklish?” Kazuki asked, completely disregarding the playful act, and landing a poke to his side again, this time making Rei flinch and grab his arm again.

They made eye contact for a moment, and then Kazuki quickly shoved him back to the couch, making him drop the game controller. He managed to straddle him. Rei tried to fight him off at first, but since he had just woken up, his exhaustion weakened him.

“Uh-oh Rei… looks like your not going anywhere…” Kazuki teased, and then began to drill his fingers into his sides. Reis eyes widened, arching his back slightly as he forced his laughter to stay down.

“Cmon Rei don’t be embarrassed! Show Miri your smile!”

“Yeah Papa Rei, smile!!!”

When Kazuki went up to his ribs, Rei couldn’t hold it anymore and laughter slowly spilled out of his mouth.

“K-Kahahazuhukihihi stohohohop!!!” Rei grabbed at the blondes wrists, but it was no use. As strong as he was, the tickling had weakened him completely now.

“There it is!!! Isn’t his laugh precious Miri~” Kazuki teased. He couldn’t help smiling at his partner. He was wearing the most adorable little smile Kazuki had ever seen from Rei, and he couldn’t help but fall in love with it immediately.

Miri went for his neck, scratching her tiny little fingers lightly at the sensitive skin, and Rei had to use all the strength he had left to keep himself from squealing. High pitched giggles erupted out of him and Kazuki actually stopped his own tickling from how surprised he was. He never heard that kind of laughter from him ever.

“Awww Rei I didn’t know you could giggle!” Kazuki teased. Reis face burned red. “Shuhuhut uhuhuhup!!” He attempted to grab at Miris hands.

“No! Papa Kazuki! Papa Rei is defweeting me!”

Kazuki laughed, “it’s ‘defeating’ Miri, not de-fweeting silly. Not to fear however! I will help you.”

He began digging into Reis underarms and he let out an undignified shriek, quickly clamping his arms down to his side.

“NOHOHOT THEHEHERE KAHAHAZUKI STOHOHOP!!!” Rei kicked at his feat, trying but failing to really trap the fingers.

“Awww look Miri! Looks like we found papa Reis weak spot.”

“Yay!!!” Miri cheered as she joined in.

Soon Rei looked as if he was having difficulty breathing and Kazuki realized he should stop.

He pulled Miri away from him and got off Rei himself. Rei was still lightly giggling from the excess tingles, seeming to be too tired now to really get up.

“Look at that Miri… we made Papa Rei smile.” Kazuki grinned at his partner, who wore a bright smily expression on his face as he caught his breath.

Kazuki hoped Rei could get used to Miri eventually, for just a while until they could find Miris proper home.

Though he didn’t realize that her proper home was right under his nose.
