“I-I didn’t mean to! How would I have predicted that he would’ve jumped to save a wretched man like you?!” Josuke began to slowly back away from Jean and the captains corpse. “I came here with one mission and I couldn’t even get that done!”
In a panic, Josuke reloaded his gun. But a realization over came his whole mind.
“If I don’t run. I’ll surely die here, and I can’t go out like this!”
Josuke, with tears streaming from his face like a heavy storm, shakily slung his harpoon gun over his shoulder and turned his head to face his ship. “I- I just-” he choked on his tears, guilt filling his heart. “I’m so sorry, I never thought he would...” his voice cracked before it trailed off. Making a dash for his boat, Josuke didn’t even bother looking back at the pain he caused. With a leap and a few seconds of flailing, Josuke barely hit the deck of his boat. Almost as if on cue, the sails of the Shining Diamond dropped and a gust of wind lunged the ship forward with a jerk. Once he stood up and steadied himself, Josuke unslung his gun and took a deep breath.
“One last shot huh? Have you not learned anything?”
A shiver ran down Josuke’s spine as he brought his gun up and peered into the scope. “O-One last, shot... to send him h-home... I- I’m so sorry Jean. Don’t you ever f-forgive me, just please, rest easy.”
