Today I am [redacted] years old. It is a big birthday, it’s a special birthday for me. I’ve done a lot of growing in the last few years but one thing that sadly fell off was my creativity. Until this small, indy flick came out this year. You probably haven’t heard of it... Top Gun: Maverick.
I didn’t think I’d write again. In my last fandom, you’d have to fight for any morsel of support to be a part of it. Brownnose is the right big blog if they deign you interesting enough, they’d give a measly reblog. They were clique-y and frankly... awful so I deleted my blog and quit Tumblr. It wasn’t a big thing, I didn’t miss it. But this film has brought me back to writing... and unfortunately for you guys, I can’t seem to stop.
But it’s not just the writing that keeps me around. The people in the TG:M fandom are so fucking rad, you guys have no idea how special I see you all. The people, the writing calibre, and the support to writers. Sure, fandom always ebbs and flows, but there are two films to cling to all our hopes and dreams on and that’s hard to keep people’s interest even with Rooster’s slutty waist upon arrival at The Hard Deck. The fics this has launched.
There have been a number of you that have made this so special to stick around in no particular order (some long-term besties from previous fandoms, ride-or-die moots, some that I follow and simply adore - long list, soz) and I know I’ve missed people, I apologise (you should be hitting follow if you aren’t already!):
