Summer is the beach for Italians. For some though, it is to be where few people go or, to avoid, at least, the noise & confusion of a typical Italian seaside resort. Living in Florence, and sharing the same objective, with friends, we drove south from Florence to spend a weekend in Tuscany's wildest southern limits, the Maremma. Grossetto. First full day, we went to il Parco dell'Uccellina or, the Maremma Natural Park. The cars are left behind in a small village and from there a walk of about a mile straight to the sea. The photo is what you come upon. If there are people, not to fear... Italians just naturally congregate at the first sight of water. Walk north, walk south and you will leave them behind.
