BDY_PRTS - Warrior

New single 'Warrior' from Glasgow indie-electro-pop band BDY_PRTS released digitally on 29 September via Aggrocat Records, forthcoming debut album is set for release late 2017 with U.K live dates to be announced soon. Warrior artwork by Kim Campbell.

BDY_PRTS are a song-writing duo & producer partnership comprising of Jill O’Sullivan (Sparrow And The Workshop, James Yorkston), Jenny Reeve (Strike The Colours, Arab Strap, The Reindeer Section) and Jonny Scott (The Kills, Chvrches). O’Sullivan and Reeve met in 2010 when both were involved in a collaborative songwriting project which also featured The Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit.

Following on from their debut ‘Rooftops,’ BDY_PRTS tell a tale as old as time on their latest single ‘Warrior,’ exploring mythology from a rather droll point of view as the Glaswegian duo declare ‘If I try to pick you up/A thousand of you fall and shatter‘ in a haze of twinkling synths, dusky reverb and snappy drum beats. Think Stevie Nicks on a dark 80s pop odyssey guided by the likes of Tears For Fears and Depeche Mode.

BDY_PRTS paint a rather vivid picture as they describe the inspiration behind the track (via Clash):

‘Writing on the Isle Of Cumbrae, looking out over the sea, past the odd submarine popping up now and then to the Isle Of Arran where lies an eerie sight: a sleeping warrior set in stone. "What's his story?" Jenny asks. "Why's he slept for so long? Isn't it about time he woke up?" And so appeared the song 'Warrior', a fictitious take on an anti-hero turned to stone. With our toes dug in the sand, we wrote about all the would-be heroes of the world who instead of standing up and facing uncomfortable truths have chosen instead to just lie down.’
