Asexual people Have to put up with sex they don’t want if their partner “needs” it because otherwise they are Denying their partner what they are owed and maybe even Abusing them by trapping them in a sexless relationship, but Also asexual people who willingly have sex with their partners are confusing and probably lying about it and how can you be asexual and also want sex? And the prevalence of these two beliefs in many places may seem contradictory or as if it indicates a fundamental disagreement on the nature of asexuality but they both make a lot of sense when you remember that a lot of people just don’t. Like. Believe that asexuality is a real thing worthy over being taken seriously and understood. Like these are both just outgrowths of the idea that asexuality isn’t real.
