Sincere question

Why do people keep on having to specify that their blogs are “safe” for LGBTQ+ and suchlike? Like, why is it such a thing to put forward SAFE SPACE SAFE SPACE everywhere? I thought the point was to make everywhere a safe place to be yourself? So genuinely, why designate specific corners as where you can dwell rather than simply marching forward and telling those who would put your down to go fuck themselves? You are who you are. You are WHAT you are. Why continue to hide because of that?
