a starter for @eunaebe !!
( i’ve got all this ringing in my ears )
yuji doesn’t know how she feels about the newest evaluation. she doesn’t mind the holiday; doesn’t mind singing or visiting children or getting into the holiday spirit. it’s actually a pretty fun evaluation, if yuji thinks about it more. there’s interaction with the other company trainees, which makes it easier for her to see the friends she has in there. it’s the upcoming dread and worry of the probationary contract coming to an end. in a few days-- and here she is, sitting with eunae as they prepare for caroling even though they don’t know where they’ll be in a few days time. she feels kinda...thrown for a loop. does this mean anything? does this mean that they’re already expected to accept a continuation at their respective companies? are they bypassing the contract and pushing it back until the new year?
there’s so many thoughts running through her head, but she’s not sure how to verbalize it quite yet. yuji scrolls through her phones for lyrics of the carols they have to sing, clearing her throat. “do you like christmas, eunae?” she asks curiously, cocking her head in the direction of the girl, but not lifting her eyes from her screen. “we’re mixing and mingling, but are you into the jingle bell spirit?” she says, a joking reference to the words of lime’s dance instructor. this time, she lifts her gaze, cracking a small smile at the other girl.
on monday, november 27th, trainees in the studio delta building are gathered up first thing in the morning, coaches checking in with each of their students before designating them to a shuttle bus. they’re quiet about what they’re planning, just telling each trainee who asks that they’ll explain everything when they get to the destination and that it has something to do with december evaluations.
likewise, sr media trainees are rounded up in a similar fashion, though one particularly chipper coach sing-songs that there’s already less than a month until christmas. some of the trainees murmur among themselves that this might be a hint.
the busses stop in front of the lime entertainment training building, where all trainees are told to enter the building and follow guides to the gymnasium. there, they’re met with a large group of lime entertainment trainees who have also been gathered up this morning. the three groups of trainees keep to themselves for the most part, each staying in their separate groups, while they wait for their instructors to tell them what’s going on. they know that the three companies are on friendly terms, but it’s certainly unusual for all of the trainees to mingle together in one building like this.
“do i have your attention?” han sangmi, the same dance instructor who announced the last special evaluation at lime entertainment, speaks into a microphone, making sure that all of the trainees can hear her before she continues. “there’s only twenty-eight days until christmas! i’m sure that all of you can’t wait to know if you’re on the naughty or nice list. to help make that decision a little easier for santa this year, the training staff at lime entertainment, studio delta, and sr media have agreed to combine forces for a special christmastime charity event— and your december evaluation.”
“that’s right,” yoo daewon of studio delta takes over the microphone, “this month, trainees from all three companies are working together to support the seoul national university children’s hospital toy drive. throughout the month of december, we’ll be running a toy drive. drop-off boxes will be available in the front lobby of every company building, as well as at special events around town. we’ll be assigning groups of trainees to help hand out flyers, monitor the donation bins, and wrap the donated gifts in between your regular lessons.”
finally, sr media’s kim minjun takes his turn with the mic. “you may be wondering how your monthly evaluations factor into this. well, clear any plans you have on christmas eve. on that saturday, all trainees will be dressing up as santa’s helpers and personally delivering gifts to the children in the hospital. as part of our gift, we’ll also be going around in small caroling groups to spread a little christmas cheer to the kids and their families. we expect everyone to maintain their character and to represent your companies—and santa himself—well with this experience.”
sangmi speaks again, “for this month only, all trainees will be sharing lime entertainment’s practice areas to prepare for caroling and acting as santa’s elves. don’t worry, shuttles from sr media and studio delta will be provided to you. all of your usual lessons will still take place at your regular companies, but we want everyone to mix and mingle and get into the jingle bell spirit together here!”
daewon and minjun look somewhere between amused and annoyed at the lime entertainment instructor. however, they open the floor to questions soon after, and soon enough are shuttling their students back to their respective companies.

out of all the groups to be assigned, yuji’s beginning to think handing out flyers is probably...the worst. it’s nice in the beginning, but after flyer after flyer and too much time in the biting cold, yuji’s ready to go inside and rest. no more training, no more holiday obligations. just a nice warm little nap in her bed. letting out a hefty sigh, yuji flexes her fingers around the flyers in her hands and rolls her eyes upwards, looking at the lights and the decorations. this is so boring, she thinks, pursing her lips as she looks around. the thing about passing out flyers is that after the first few failures, yuji has to pick who to give a flyer to. mostly based off vibes, because she doesn’t want to get yelled at or scolded or something else because she really doesn’t want to deal with it.
the cold added with her horrid sleep schedule is making her sleepy, her scarf tucked around her neck a saving grace. she trails tired eyes around her surroundings, until her expression perks up. quickening her pace, her eyebrows raise as she peers to see-- and smiles brightly. “i thought it was you,” yuji greets, reaching up to tug her scarf down a bit to showcase her smile to bada. “fancy seeing you here. will you do me a favor?” yuji sticks out a flyer to the girl, head tilting to the side. “can you take one of these? i’m helping with an event and the more i give these out, the better.”
caroling under sr media;
snu’s children’s hospital toy drive visit !!
yuji’s been telling herself all this time hey, this isn’t so bad! sure, she’s had to deal with the contract switch from lime to sr media; at least the evaluation hadn’t changed anything, or at least reminded her the new year is going to be a little different. yuji had been happy with the choice of it; happy to be able to interact cross companies, happy to have eunae with her for this, and happy with being able to escape the dance practice rooms; even if it means giving herself up to the cold weather and forced interaction.
and well, it really could be worse. but when it comes down to the designated day, she’s a little bit nervous. it’s going to signal her first evaluation under sr media, on top of them having to interact with children. yuji’s not...a person who is really good with kids. well, they intimidate her. she knows it won’t be that bad, and that the kids reacting to a little bit of holiday cheer and generosity will lift her mood.
she still feels a little silly though; dressed up like santa’s little helper and bouncing around, a smile glued to her face. it softens a bit when she sees the reaction of kids to the presents that they give; they do look happy, pleased, and it warms her heart a bit to have to witness it.
the singing is the best part. getting into groups and being able to sing along with her favorite holiday songs will definitely be her favorite. sure, they could have down a performance similar to the one back to halloween, but this at least scratches the itch for a performance. it feels like a show at least, and the way some of the kids and their families sing along make it feel even more complete.
it’s...wholesome, in a sense. sure, it’s not showing off immense talent and fighting for the spotlight; but it’s simple, easy-- seamless to dip yourself in and enjoy.
and maybe at the end of it, with the way her gut flips in a discomfort that isn’t quite hated-- maybe that’s a sign that things are gonna take a turn for better this year.
a starter for @benayoung !!
( trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday )
her fingers feel frozen to the stack of flyers in her hand, eyes trailing over people as she gears up to pass some flyers out. it’s freezing out, but she’s smiling; at this point, it’s stuck on her face-- bowing her head with every paper she gives out. smile, flyer, thank you, and repeat.
this isn’t...the worst task to be given. yuji doesn’t really like it, would much rather be doing actual caroling instead. but it’s not dance practice-- which means it’s better already, so she won’t complain too much. heaving out a sigh of relief once it’s settled down a bit, she slows her pace to tuck her coat closer around her. tucking her hair around her face, she goes to approach a girl, smile already sliding into place; the script on the tip of her tongue. but when her eyes catch sight of her face, yuji stops in place-- blinking quickly as the recognition moves and settles in her brain. letting out a surprised noise, yuji slowly begins to step forward.
“excuse me,” she starts, clearing her throat a bit. “have you heard about this years toy drive?” extending a hand with the flyer, she offers it, head tilting to the side. her eyes flicker over the girl’s face, studying. “also...sorry, not to be weird. but you’re...nayoung? lee nayoung yes?” her brows pinch for a moment, thinking. she rattles off the name of the survival show she remembers her from-- at least the most recent one. actually, there was more than one, wasn’t there?
