on the morning of october 16, the official dream wave account neglected to message you, a clear sign that your audition to STUDIO DELTA was not successful in the end. however, another message graces your inbox from an official LIME ENTERTAINMENT source. it reads as follows:
IM NORA,
our reputation as a company is one that prides itself on discovering true talent among the thousands of idol hopefuls knocking on our doors. as you may know, it is no easy feat to earn a spot in our prestigious trainee program. because of this, we are forced to be strategically selective in our audition process.
that being said, our evaluators were highly impressed with your expressive movements and gestures as you danced through your performance. that isn’t something that everyone can accomplish. with the right training, we believe that you can become something special, should you choose to put forth the effort to further develop your abilities. furthermore, we’ve seen your dance challenge video for the waterbomb festival. even for a social media challenge with minimal movements, your dance skills don’t let up.
knowing all this, we would like to offer you a probationary position in our trainee program.
if you’re able to adjust to our program and show signs of improvement, we’ll be happy to extend a 90-day probationary contract to a full trainee contract. please take your time to carefully read through the terms and conditions of our standard probationary trainee contract before making this decision.
we hope that you make the choice to join lime entertainment’s prestigious trainee program.
regards,
kang heejin, lime entertainment talent acquisition representative.

HAN YUWOL,
we are pleased to contact you regarding your performance during the callback rounds of dream wave. first of all, your active participation is very much appreciated.
as a company, we value a presence that keeps audiences on the edge of their seat, eager for the next performance. to us, an idol should not only be skilled in the technical aspects, but also be able to bring attention to their stage. we make a conscious effort to encourage other endeavors, keeping a multi talented roster of capable talents.
because of this, our evaluators don’t only look at your current skills, but also how you are able to be in the public eye and hold your ground. this is something we feel that you managed to showcase during your callback performance. we were pleasantly surprised by your take on nxde, creating a completely different concept in under 60 seconds, highlighting your creativity. that sort of artistry is something that we believe is a good fit for sr media. we also caught your dance challenge video for the waterbomb festival, and noticed you’ve kept up with your technical skills as well after the events of next gen.
in short, we would like to offer you a probationary contract in our idol trainee program.
this 90-day probationary contract can be considered a test run for both you and the company; for you to see how you like sr media and ease into our trainee program, and for the company to access your potential more carefully and see how you’re able to improve under the guidance of our well-respected talent cultivation team.
we hope that you decide to join us on this incredible journey.
regards,
hwang taemin, sr media talent acquisition representative.

nora has undergone her fair share of interviews, chances given being jumped upon with little quarry, opportunities to stand out and be seen hardly ( if ever ) wasted on a woman with far too much ambition to be kept down. with an array of interests under her belt, it isn't hard for nora to adapt and conquer— she'd fought tooth and nail with her parents when it came time to submit applications for universities, art programs trumping her list while her familys values took refuge in trades more traditionally sound, had put in a stellar word for herself when she'd learned her local dance studio was hiring, had stood her ground when support fell to the wayside and all she had to her name was pride and drive.
what nora wanted, nora worked to get. truly, missing out on an audition opportunity like this would be foolish of her. so, when the time comes to hit record, she's ready, face clean and clear, her only traces of makeup being a light coat of lipgloss, mascara, and groomed brows.
easy. simple. recognizable while still being put together. she'd thought of pushing her bangs back some, but figured that'd defeat the purpose. they wanted to see her, wanted to see what sort of look she could bring alongside talent, and the bangs were nora.
so, sat before a camera in a nice corner of her room, she begins.
"hello, my name is im nora. thank you for taking the time to review my submission," she begins, an easy smile spreading across her lips, words spoken with unbreakable confidence. formalities, first impressions, we always important. this was not different. "today, i'll be tossing my entry into the sea of dreamwave auditions. i hope you all enjoy."
"i'd never given much thought as to what my dream company might be. they've each got their own reputations, their own wants and criteria when weeding through the countless trainee hopefuls that no doubt contact them every day." noras lips purse as her gaze hardens for a moment, mind working through what she'd like to say. honesty, as she's decided, is the best course of action. "rather than dub them as my dream company, i would say the company i'd find the most mutual benefits within is studio delta. i prefer to be challenged, not just in work ethic, but creatively. they're known to push, right? i'd like that for myself."
lips lifting into a teasing grin, nora raises a brow as she continues. "in that same vein, i can't say they're necessarily my second dream company, but sr media also seems like they'd be a good fit." head tilting slightly, she gives a gentle hum as she speaks again. "i think it'd be interesting to try my hand at acting some day, and with their guidance, that career addition might come a bit easier."
"regarding previous musical experience— at the moment, i'm currently employed part-time as a dance instructor when i'm not attending classes, so i'm constantly on the move and improving my skills on, essentially, a daily basis." for as often as nora might complain, she does truly enjoy her time spent amongst her students, even if they're snotnosed and easily agitating. she'd never admit to that, however. "as a whole, i've been dancing since i was a toddler. my mother started me out with standard, entry-level ballet before as an early extracurricular, but i ended up loving it more than she'd anticipated. while i'm a fashion student, dance will never be something for me to toss to the wayside." vaguely, nora remembers waterbomb and the countless tiktok challanges she'd filmed, views and comments pouring in thanks to trending interests.
leaning forward slightly, noras mind wanders. "as for skills and additional talents, choreography is something i take great interest and pride in doing." she's serious, the more serious she's been throughout the recording of her audition, gaze trained on the lens capturing her every movement. "i'm an instructor, so i feel choreography is an important and necessary skill to devote time towards alongside general dance. strictly following has never been my preference, that simply sucks all sense of personality out of things. isn't one of the main factors in working within the entertainment industry to be seen and to showcase what you've got? having a strong sense of self, presence, and the ability to properly showcase those things are vital— i like to think i'm doing well in regards to those aspects."
call her conceited, but she was simply stating her mind.
"additionally, i've got something of a photographic memory. muscle memory comes with time and practice, so that's something i've grown more in tune with my body on over the years, but constantly working with textiles, colors, textures, and silhouettes as a fashion student has sharpened my eyes greatly." cracking a gentle smile, nora adds playfully. "i know variety shows these days love having their guests play games that rely on memorization. it's silly, but i'd surely come in handy for that."
"my favorite artists are a bit all over the place, but as of late . . . sabrina claudio, lolo zouai, and banks are a few english speaking artists i enjoy— great mood tracks, perfect for both a quick warm-up routine or to craft while listening to. jude from studio delta also falls under that category for me, alongside sr medias hiraeth." nora pauses for a moment before continuing. "charli xcx and sabrina carpenter have been trending a lot this summer, so they've also found spots on my repeat playlist."
while getting ready for today's queue, we realized that we made a mistake regarding the dream wave auditions deadline. in the original post, the deadline was set to 8:59pm EST, right before queue, though in the reminder post last week we said it would go on until 11:59pm EST instead.
to avoid anyone potentially missing out on participating, we are officially extending the deadline to tonight, at 11:59pm EST. the second round of auditions will be posted tomorrow, at 9pm EST sharp, so be on the lookout then!
apologies for the confusion, and good luck to all those participating!
‘you need to take this opportunity,’ her mother tells her sternly. ‘and don’t screw it up this time. you were so lucky to get in to your uncle’s company and now look at you,’ she says with a sneer. ‘back to auditions, back to the bottom,’ the older woman sighs and shakes her head. ‘what am i going to do with you, hyeran.’
the girl’s eyes have been directed at the floor the entire time, listening to what her mother would call a ‘pep talk.’ hyeran is used to this by now, the words going in one ear and out the other. she doesn’t take it to heart - she can’t afford to anymore.
she stands smiling in front of the camera, back flush against the white wall of her bedroom. hyeran is ready for her audition, prepared. once the camera indicates that it’s started to roll, she begins to speak.
“hello!” she says in a cheerful tone, making sure the smile reaches her eyes. “my name is jo hyeran and i’m ready to ride this wave,” she giggles at the play on words, hoping she didn’t come off too cringe-worthy.
DREAM COMPANY:
“dream company? that’s a tough question, isn’t it?” her head tilts to the right as she pretends to ponder. hyeran has had her answers memorized since early this morning. “each company under axis labels has it’s own strengths. i would say each company has it’s own signature thing that draws people in.”
“for me, if i had to pick,” she takes another moment to ponder. “i would pick lime entertainment! i’m a big fan of their artists: yuna, nana, prizm. it’d be amazing to train under the same company as them.”
PREVIOUS MUSICAL EXPERIENCE:
“i have quite a bit of musical experience,” she tells the camera. “as a child, i was in a children’s group. we had a youtube channel where we would post singing and dancing covers, as well as some variety content, i guess?” hyeran laughs. “i’m not sure exactly what you would call it, but the channel is still active today with another generation of members.”
“i took singing and dancing lessons growing up and well into my teens. i still take lessons these days, actually, a couple times a month. i was actually a former trainee before leaving the company earlier this year.”
SKILLS
OTHER TALENTS:
“trot singing? i know for some it might be a bit old fashioned, but shows like ‘mr trot’ have popularized it these days. my mother, also, was a trot singer. i learned from her! she’s actually the source of my inspiration, why i want to be an idol,” there’s a tone in hyeran’s voice that even she can’t pinpoint.
FAVORITE ARTISTS
“i already listed some of them off earlier: yuna, nana, prizm,” hyeran takes the liberty of telling the camera her favorite artists again. “but i like to listen to a lot of different genres and i’m always trying to listen to new artists. there’s a foreign singer who’s been blowing up overseas lately, sabrina carpenter. i’ve been listening to her music a lot these days.”
of course, she ends her interview with a smile and a big thank you, hoping that something will come of this endeavor.
to be fair...is this really an audition? she's auditioning for an audition, right? well...that's kind of what they all are, right? aren't most auditions multiple rounds?
she doesn't really know. all she knows is that if she's serious about accomplishing her mom's dream - her dream, by extension - then she needs to do more than take dance lessons and practice singing and rapping by herself. in the worst case, they'll tell her no, or won't say a thing to her, and she would've taken one important step toward her goals.
so she sits down against the wall in her local dance studio, and turns the camera on.
"hi, i'm hong riha," she greets the camera with a tiny wave and smile, "and i guess i'll just...get into it?" she giggles.
DREAM COMPANY:
"when it comes to companies...i don't really mind? i think they're all nice, and have their charms. i would feel bad picking one over the other." as if the companies themselves have feelings, or anyone working there would take having a preference personally. she almost said i don't think i have enough skill to be picky anyway, but decided that was better left unsaid. "maybe lime? lime's artists are very skilled, and i heard that they don't mind teaching people...i forget where, but i heard it," she laughs lightly again. "yuna sunbaenim was also really nice on next gen. and i like her songs."
PREVIOUS MUSICAL EXPERIENCE:
she smiles, nervous. "truthfully...i don't really have musical experience. i take dance lessons, and i've been in sports my entire life. music has otherwise been a hobby up until this point," she admits. "oh!" she remembers suddenly. "i can play guitar! and i've been practicing both singing and rapping. but that's all."
SKILLS: here
OTHER TALENTS:
"well...like i said, i play sports. i'm really good at volleyball, and football, and swimming, and tennis. running too! my dad is hong minjun, the football player. i'm also a black belt in taekwondo, but i'm a little rusty now. i can also bench press 58 kilos! that's really good for a women of my size," she nods sagely, "and i'm working to do better every day! i'm also a personal trainer. i went to school for kinesiology, so i know a lot about staying in shape." do any of those actually count as talents...? "i'm not sure how well that translates to becoming a kpop idol, but i think i'd beat everyone else at the idol star athletics championships, which is a fun bonus!" she grins. then suddenly, she remembers something very important: "oh! i went to university in california, so," she switches to english, "i'm pretty good at english now!" she gives the camera two thumbs up.
FAVORITE ARTISTS:
she hums. she did think about the question ahead of time, but she already forgets what she wanted to say for this part, and she doesn't really want to retape everything now. she could probably do better in general, sure, but - she doesn't really have time for that, either.
"i really like kehlani and tinashe," she recalls, thankfully. "i've liked tyla a lot these days, too. rina sawayama, conan gray..." she realizes this list of artists is very, what the kids would call, 'queer-coded,' and quickly pivots to kpop, since that's more relevant anyway. "and yuna sunbaenim," she smiles, a little shy once more. "and nana...nana is wonderful. i also really admire a.maze's performances. they're, um...for lack of a better word...amazing?" there was definitely a better word. she should probably re-record this.
instead, she lets out another nervous laugh and shakes her head.
"okay, i think i answered all the questions! this has been hong riha. thank you!"
