Hi anon~ this ask is a bit late, so I hope you get to see this but thank you for the compliment!

Some of the cooler effects (curled poster, magazine mocks) are usually mockups that you can find (for free) on graphic design websites! I’m still trying to learn how to make smart objects using Photoshop, but alas, I’m still a noob at PS hehe.

This may sound boring, but other than that, I honestly have no tricks to show you anon heh (unless you request something specific, of course!) the best thing you can do is learn what your editing software can do and experiment! By doing so, you’ll be able to make more complicated and sophisticated edits!

Another tip I recommend is always looking for inspiration! Maybe you like how so-and-so uses color but you also like how clean so-and-so’s edit is! Now I’m not encouraging copying, but inspiration can lead you to your own distinct editing style :) hope this helps!

I actually answered this type of question here & here but I don’t mind sharing more advice :)

Don’t base your skills off of notes! I know notes serve as confidence boosters because everyone loves to see other people enjoying things you’ve made, but don’t be disappointed when you don’t get as many notes as you expected! That being said, don’t be afraid to reblog your edit multiple times! It’s your work and you should be proud of it! I guarantee you, one day your hard work will be acknowledged, just keep going!

Experiment! Although sometimes putting an idol against a pastel background is clean, simple, and lovely, sometimes I like to experiment and challenge myself (me: regrets challenge as soon as it becomes hard) Sometimes experimentation can further lead you to your editing style, just practice practice practice~

Look at tutorials! Honestly, making high quality/unique edits comes from knowing the tools of photoshop and how you can use it to suit your graphic. The more functions you know of photoshop, the more complicated you can make your edits. Every time I’m making an edit, I learn something new; what works and what doesn’t work, and what tool is best used for what! ~knowledge is power~ lolol

Enjoy yourself! Editing should be (for the most part) fun and enjoyable! Don’t let editing become a burden okie!

hi, I want to start to learn how to make graphics, but I don't have the slightest idea where to start?? what's the first step, what did you do to learn how to make pretty graphics?? ^-^

HELLO ANON! Here are some tips I would give to new graphic makers!:

Firstly! Getting Photoshop is really important! For PC users, here’s a link that will help you download photoshop on your laptop and there’s also a tutorial for Mac users as well, but I don’t know if they’re working :( (If they aren’t let me know off anon and I’ll try to help you!)

Of course, if you don’t have photoshop or are unable to download you can try pixlr which is an online editor and works just as well! (although it does miss some functions that photoshop has!)

For me, my first graphics were....really.......not that good LMAO I had no idea what I was doing...but the thing is, is that you learn the most from trial and error

Try simple graphics: take an editable fantaken (or official picture) and crop the subject from the background. Use the pen tool to trace around the subject and try THIS tutorial on how to crop hair

After that, place the rendered image onto a new canvas, set a background, add a few textures and hey! You’ve made a graphic!

Another tip I would give is to work with large images because they turn out to be the most HD :-) also!!!! if you have photoshop, take advantage of the “clipping mask” so that the whole thing looks more “unified” you know?

Lastly, always always experiment! Sometimes, your graphics won’t look the way you wanted, but I assure you that we all start from somewhere! My first graphics were really terrible.......but I will say that I’ve improved immensely and I am still finding my own style! Editing comes with patience and trial and error! If you keep on editing you’ll be able to make the graphics you want to make :)
