Beach Rats (2017) // dir. Eliza Hittman
In the opening title card, the film is dedicated to 'Eliza, Francis, Joel and Luca'. This refers to Eliza Hittman, Francis Lee, Joel Edgerton and Luca Guadagnino, who directed Beach Rats (2017), God's Own Country (2017), Boy Erased (2018) and Call Me by Your Name (2017), which are all gay coming-of-age films.
Anyone have any recommendations for films (or series) about queerness and toxic masculinity?
I've seen Drown, Tom at the Farm, Femme, and Beach Rats. I'm watching Half Man.
I also love Moonlight, of course, but that's got a gentler vibe than what I'm looking for.
Any others I should check out with a similar vibe?
